Epic Games 100% CPU utilization (6950x)

So I can only confirm this anecdotally, but today I heard my PC getting loud only to realize that the culprit was the Epic Games launcher. (Usage verified in HWinfo64 and task manager)

The abnormal thing was I was updating my graphics driver simultaneously. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. I closed the Epic application and the problem was solved.

Question is what in the world would cause such a massive CPU utilization across a 20 thread CPU. A fluke?
 
I havent even played a game using Epic’s launcher yet, But it did similar shit to me when it was still left running after I downloading and once while I left it open for a min but went to smoke a cig. Something is definitely screwy with the app. I only have a laptop with an 8 gig ryzen 7 but even with that it shouldnt have too much of an impact.

The Epic launcher is a piece of shit. It's done stuff like this before if I recall correctly.
