Death Stranding (first title from Kojima Productions)

Here's a PSA for everyone at or around Chapter 11. That's when the ending sequences begin.
The ending is LONG. There are at least a few sequences you have to play out, too. That's all fine and good, but make sure you have at least 2 hours on your hands. Otherwise you're going to have to sit through long sections again if you have to bail. You can skip the movie sequences, but you can't leave anything where you're controlling anyone. Otherwise you have to play them out entirely again.
For what it's worth, this game has more false endings than Lord of the Rings 3, too.

Yeah, I thought it was ending, but it dragged on and on. I don't mind long cutscenes or ending parts, but this thing seemed like it was right at the end, and then there would be another long cut scene, with some gameplay and credits, then more cut scenes, more gameplay, ect.

Kind of annoying.

The truck can jump a short ravine, right?

Right?

You have to use pretty strict timing, but you can jump over lots of obstacles on a bike. Ravines and streams included. The key is to hit the button pretty early. If you're trying to climb a mountain on a bike, don't be afraid to mash jump like a madman while hitting the turbo thruster. Your gear won't fall off or take damage from hammering a small barrier and trying to get over it.

Bike sure... Truck, not so much 😅

I had it get stuck once, got clipped into the 3D model of a rock, so a bug. Happened one more time after I finished the campaign, 60+ hours in. You're jumping right? I gets me unstuck most of the time and sometimes necessary to climb up certain mountain paths.

WIth the truck, yeah. Sometimes that's how I got stuck, getting the truck in places where it probably shouldn't be. I think I've stuck three or four already. Sometimes it's just falling down a mountain wrong. Kind of wish there were some way to 'push' the truck out; even a grenade working would be nice.

That said, the truck basically driving the opposite direction, the rear wheels not turning, etc., does seem to be a bug.

Yeah I know where you are. I know there is a path around there but the terrian looked rough so I drove around. Might load it up and start driving around there again seeing if I can cross without getting stuck.

I just wish post game they'd let you fast travel with items. Just to screw around and try things. And maybe a mode to disable BTs just to drive/climb around everywhere.

Went along the route (unfinished road for me) to get to Mountain Knot city to see if there was anything fun at this depot I missed on the way there.

Heading back to the central distribution center for repairs.

Decided to visit the First Prepper's bunker, because I drove right past it the last time I was there. Was on a story mission.

Stopped for repairs, then drove on up the mountain.

Did get all the way up there.

Is that a known thing? I see other people talking about loving the trucks. I *HATED* them. Yet if their controls were bugged, I guess that would make some level of sense. The truck controls on an Xbox pad simply don't make sense and they don't work right.

This is with mouse and keyboard... and having the W key pressed with the wheel not turning. Or pressing A or D and having it not turn. Or pressing S and having it not stop...

360 controller on my end, no issues that I could see save for the few times I got stuck.

You start seeing interesting things when zooming in to certain areas with the screenshot mode.

I just started this game for a first time on PC and found out that I cannot hear voices in game.
All sounds are there but no voices, I can see subtitles when they talk but no voices - did anyone had this issue?

Check your sound settings. If you using eARC to a receiver make sure it is set to passthrough. I had the issue also. When I changed it to passthrough on my c9 it worked fine.

Things is I use normal audio out put on my mobo.
I can hear sounds, music etc - only voices are out.

Make sure your device type in windows is setup correctly. It could be that voices are center channel only, and if you don't actually have a center channel the audio is being output no where.

Right, I found out that when I switch to other language, then it works. Just my language doesn't :(

OK, so what do you guys think about this game overall?
Is it worth buying?
I got a quick play of it at friend's house and now I want to buy for myself. I can get it for $17 on Epic store.
I've read lots of player's review saying its an amazing game experience.

It is a hard question to ask. Some love it some hate it. It is a slog early to mid game go get through but has a really interesting story. Lots of people bail early on cause nothing interesting happens and goes on for a long time. I say for $17 go for it. It is a amazing experience if you have the patience to get there.

If you have a system that can run it well, it's at least a pretty beautiful game. I didn't love the beginning or the end all that much, but the middle was enjoyable. For $17, it's at least a hell of a tech demo with primo actors involved.

I wonder if this will be added to the PC version?

Death Stranding Director’s Cut launches on PS5 September 24, 2021

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is packed with a ton of new content and enhanced gameplay features...we are introducing more weapons, equipment and vehicles, a variety of new modes, missions and areas to explore, expanded storylines, and enhancements to the UI...we will also be adding new online features including Friend Play and Leaderboards...

If they do, I hope everyone who owns it gets it. I'd play the extra story missions but not interested in replaying the whole game again.

the new content sounds interesting and the main reason to play this...the original Death Stranding had an 8 month PS4 exclusivity window...hopefully PC owners won't have to wait that long for the Director's Cut

"the content that we’re introducing to Death Stranding Director’s Cut was all built and developed from the ground up, following the launch of the original Death Stranding...the new content isn’t simply bolted on either, it’s been carefully woven into the core game experience and will be made available through discovery as you play...most of the new content is fairly easy to find, though there are some bits and pieces that will take some time to find and unlock"

Looking good that the've added a fair amount of content. If the Director's Cut content doesn't come to PC and soon no less, that's a bloody travesty. I'm considering writing a (respectful) request / demand as soon as I can find out the best point of content most likely to make it in front of the eyes of decision makers.

Death Stranding already had a year (I think) delay before the original made it to PC, and surely Sony/KojiPro must know that releasing the Director's Cut for PS5 without confirmation that it IS coming to PC and within a short period of time, is a horrid idea and they'll lose sales. After all, much like plenty of other titles from Catherine Classic to the original Dragon Quest XI, players will rightfully not want to buy a hobbled version if there is an enhanced one in the pipe. It would be ideal if they could just update the existing PC version of the game to the DC version via a patch or DLC, but especially if they need to create an entirely different title, they need to do it well, price it right and give a significant loyalty discount. Upgrading to the PS5 Digital Deluxe version of Director's Cut is only $10 for owners of (I think any?) version of the PS4 game, so that would be a reasonable PC DLC upgrade price that I think the community would accept.

Of course, the timeliness of this is a big factor. However it is delivered, as a separate title or a DLC/update to the original (preferable) for $10, the important thing is they don't take too long. I suggest no more than 1 month post PS5 launch would be ideal, but I'd accept a little longer if it was actually used for making sure the port is excellently PC friendly. However, if they delay because of exclusivity or a contract, especially if it ends up longer than a month or two, people will rightly feel screwed over. We already had to wait once, that was bloody enough! I don't want to hear from Sony/KojiPro/505 that "oh it seems that PC gamers aren't buying it anymore they're not excited hmmmm" if they make the stupid choice to put anywhere between 3 to 12 months of exclusivity before its arrival (or a similarly stupid path of allowing Epic Games Store to get their infected maw on the Director's Cut exclusively - ugh! ) Lets hope they don';t make that sort of mistake - SOE has noted that pretty much every "definitive edition" older Playstation exclusive that comes to PC via Steam sells well up front and for a long tail thereafter, if it is priced well and overall a good game (Horizon Zero Dawn or Gone Home are too examples, as well as of course Death Stranding itself which thrives on PC). I'm a big fan of Kojima's titles and Death Stranding is great, but there's no reason that what seems to be a considerable update like this with new content should be withheld for months and months from PC, especially when we already waited for the original version of the game thanks to foolish exclusivity.

Edit: Bit of a tangent, but I wonder if the Director's Cut launch will mean that the stupidly expensive boutique Death Stranding jacket from luxe clothier Acronym will return? Seems that all the other items are available for sale on both JP and US KojiPro sites, but sadly that jacket was very limited. Its MSRP was like $1700 (and that wasn't only for this collab, as the "normal" version of that jacket is only a couple hundred cheaper as I recall) but the only wy to get it today is people selling it for $3000-5000 on ebay!

I haven't played the base game yet but the Director's Cut looks vastly improved in terms of quality of life improvements...makes the game seem much less tedious...hopefully it comes to PC soon...

-Rig stabilizers that help you glide down from high-up areas
-Cargo launchers to fire your packages over long distances and escort them via drone
-A Buddy Bot who will carry your precious deliveries for you
-AI navigation that will carry the player themselves wherever

Death Stranding Director’s Cut a (Mostly) Solid 60fps in All PS5 Modes, Loads 10x Faster...

I really how this is a free upgrade for PC and they allow saves to work in the new version. I'd just like to load up my current save and play the new missions. Won't be replaying this game anytime soon, if ever. I did like the game just seldom have time to replay something. I'd rather play something new.

on sale at Steam for $17.99...I finally bit at that price...I was waiting for it to go under $20...during the recent Steam Summer Sale it was $23.99 and I came close to buying but I'm glad I waited

That seems like a massive price cut for a relatively new game. So either (a) it's selling poorly or (b) that directors cut isn't going to be free.

Its been known from day 0 that the directors cut costs money ;)

I picked this up at it's sale price yesterday, more out of curiosity than anything, and after about 3 hours of play I'm finding it quite compelling so far. It still suffers from the ridiculously stupid gibberish writing I find all Kojima games to suffer from but I'm enjoying it despite that.
