Hi,

I have Command & Conquer Remaster and think about buying Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection.
Anyone bought it from Origin and successfully runs 17 bundled games in Windows 10?

Thanks

Just pick them up on Steam sales. The only 1 that's not on Steam yet is Generals, which you could just get that elsewhere...

But to answer your question, they run fine.

The only original C&C games still for sale on Steam are Red Alert 3 and Tiberium Wars (bold and italic in below list). The Ultimate Collection on Origin includes:

Command & Conquer
Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations
Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Command & Conquer: Red Alert: Counterstrike
Command & Conquer: Red Alert: The Aftermath
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun Firestorm
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge
Command & Conquer: Renegade
Command & Conquer: Generals
Command & Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars: Kane's Wrath
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Uprising
Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight

C&C 4 was removed from sale on Steam a few months ago. The other games were never on Steam, as far as I know.

I can confirm everything up through at least Tiberian Sun/Firestorm runs, though I heavily recommend the fan patches for all titles.

Note for Tiberian Sun/Firestorm: I had to do a LOT of finagling with the fan patch graphic configuration tool to get everything to render correctly. I forget the graphic mode I used; I think it was GDI or maybe DirectDraw. DirectX had *issues*. But once it was configured it ran fine.

You all probably have large and wide monitors. How do you run old games on them?

The fan patch for the first game, Red Alert, and Tiberian Sun adds high resolution, widescreen, and scaling support. Later games support more modern resolutions, but they are sometimes marred by stretching or vert- behavior. There are still fan patches that will fix those issues.

Pretty much this; worst case you need to stretch.

Remember that GUI elements will *not* scale; this is notable in Renegade where I legit dropped down to 800x600 to make the GUI usable. It's less of a problem for the other games, but worth noting.

EA brought a good number of older games to Steam this week.

Also check out cnc-ddraw, may help. Only works with software rendering, but the cheapest cpus available today should be able to run most of these games fine. For the rest, those should support more modern drawing apis.

There's also openra, an open source implementation of the redalert engine. It still needs some work, but it works fine for multiplayer skermishes.

Thanks for posting this.. may have to pick this up just to have it in my Steam library. Assuming these don't need the EA or Origin launchers?
