ARM server status update / reality check

Meh. He says that but he didn't test it.
Jeff mentioned it in the video, and has shown it directly in previous videos posted on here when moving from 4 channels to 6 channels and what an improvement it made on that platform.
 
Honestly, after buying our first Apple M MacBook I am very impressed.

I am following developments in the ARM / RISC space for the desktop / laptop market on the windows platform.. I honestly believe that needs a separate discussion thread..

I saw that as well, and it really is a good deal compared to purchasing the CPU and motherboard separately.

Based on the images a NewEgg reviewer posted, your best bet might be 3D printing a mount to jerry-rig a fan to the 2U cooler and blasting air through its fins (and dealing with the resulting noise), or installing the board into a case intended to act as a wind tunnel with 140+mm fans on a fairly aggressive curve, depending on what loads you're putting on the CPU. If I hadn't already spent so much to acquire my Power9 + Blackbird motherboard I'd consider throwing a little money into one of these... though I'd want to make sure there aren't issues with the PCIe root complex that would impair compatibility with GPUs, which has been an issue for a lot of ARM boards to date. The xe driver being introduced with kernel 6.8 by Intel should finally make it possible for Intel Arc cards to work on non-x86 architectures, and they've stated that getting it running on ARM64 has been a priority. They're as serious as anyone about open source GPGPU compute, so hopefully we'll see good things in the future.
