Of course it is kinda expensive at first but overall you save a lot. Though is it really worth it?

If they are around in the next 3-5 years... I've always wondered about these people doing lifetime storage, VPN, pretty much anything. Seems like a way to get as big a chunk of cash as possible before folding the company.

I wonder how this works, since running a data centre has lot of reoccurring costs. Like bandwidth, power, staff, etc. Kind of need a constant cash flow to run it. I guess by paying more up front, they can invest some of that money and eventually they have enough for the interest to pay for the reoccurring costs? Kind of an interesting model if that works.

We looked at both AWS and Azure once, it was 2.5x more expensive than buying our own servers and storage. I just don't get it.

The primary benefit I could see is that if I were a global business the added cost would be worth the ease of spinning up servers anywhere in the world.
