AMD Ryzen 3700x vs INTEL Core i7 10700F - Which one do you think?

I can't decide which system to go

Intel has 1 advantage for me that I won't be have to rebuild my Raid 1 array

I will use the system for applications that uses 8 cores 16 threads (not for gaming)

As far as I searched the Internet both CPU have equal power

So which one and why?

I can only tell you what not to buy.

Do not buy B450 mobos in that price range, go for B550 instead, unless your mobo budget is below $100.
Do not buy the 3700X, buy the 5600X instead (if it is available in your region and not outrageously priced). For discussion, see e.g. buildzoid from 8:25min.

You can get good 10700F multicore application performance if you unlock the power limits, but memory bound performance on B460 will be limited by the locked DDR4 speed.
 
Don't buy b460 or a locked cpu sku for this application unless you're getting an amazing discount.

What he said. If you need to save some cash now (or just put it into kick-ass RAM), put a Ryzen 3600 ($180) in the system until you can find/afford a 5600X.

get the 3700x.

Ryzen multi-threading performance is a lot better than Intel. Since you are doing non-gaming tasks, Ryzen is the choice.

As far as 5600x Vs. 3700x ---- for non-gaming, you should choose the 3700x. 5600x is 6 core and 3700x is 8 core. The 3700x beats 5600x pretty fairly in most multi-threaded productivity tasks.
And with Ryzen, you potentially have an upgrade path. You can add more cores later, if you want. Intel only goes to 10 cores. And 8 core Ryzens match or beat 10 core intels, anyway.
 
I bought 2 3700x recently, very happy. 65w part (88w actual) that is better at multi. As mentioned, B550s aren't that pricey, it's a 65w CPU so even lower end boards have VRMs that will do fine. I actually run one of mine on a b450 Fatal1ty itx, and another on a. MSI MPG B550 gaming wifi... Both run about the same, although the b550 boosts slightly higher (could be luck of silicon though as well). Both run just as well though. I already had the b450, almost bought a b550 anyways because they weren't to pricey anyways. If your not gaming and need cores, AMD fits that bill better in most cases (without knowing the exact work load).

No, they are pretty even in multi-threaded productivity tasks. The 3700X is ahead by like 10% in highly parallelized tasks like rendering, while in productivity tasks that have a major single-thread component or which are limited by L3 cache size the 5600X is faster.
In common scenarios which are partially limited by single thread performance the 5600X is equal to the 3700X (video editing is one example).

OP says they plan to focus on multithreaded workloads and the 3700x is strictly better.
indeed, a more mixed environment is better suited to the 5600x. However, a 10700 non-k with the turbo behavior adjusted, would probably be even better.
