9700K vs 9900K in gaming 1440P only!

I was on a 9700kf + 1080ti combo.
I mostly saturated my 1080p and 1440p panels.
Competitive settings.
I can sustain a 5m2ghz all core clock, not that that makes dead flat frametime and faster.

Unless you render video and need quick sync, put the $ towards a better tier gpu.

10700k and you can disable HT per core if needed. Then you can have 8 cores 12 threads or something unusual. But probably 8 and no HT for 1440p 2020.
Why not go AMD? Is AMD 3 series not up there with the 10th gen? All I had read was the only 10th gen worth getting is the i5, everything else is a rip off for what your paying vs 9th gen.

That would work I just went with the Intel Processors forum and stayed with Intel. It seems like diminishing returns have been embraced with the 2080 Ti and the 10600k is enough but if it's $100 more for the 10700k over three years I don't mind that cost. 3200 CL16 is also fine but if someone buys the Patriot 4133 $90 right now I wouldn't blame them.

Things have changed since the OP in March but it said the 9900k was gone, I assume sold. Unless the 10700k is in it for a really long haul that might have better resale than AMD since Zen 3 will launch.

I can only speak from personal experience. That is, 9900 > 9700 in everything. Particularly noticed it in Assassins creed titles and multitasking. 12 threads or more is kind of necessary for my workflow at the moment so that's what I recommend.

Out of curiosity just cause of Black Friday deals where does a 9700F fall exactly? Is it pretty much on par with the 10600? I honestly don't know anything about the 9000 series from Intel I skipped that generation. Are the motherboards/chipsets any good?
