Is it worth it ?

I currently just use ddr4 so guessing not worth it yet. Could be wrong.

Can not really find a ddr4 vs ddr5 benchmarks.

Depends on the price you get it at. It boosts higher and has more e-cores.

Not worth it unless you're rendering on the CPU or something and need more cores.

13600k beats the 12700k in everything and costs less

13600k matches or beats the 12900k in every game. And beats the 12700k in multicore work and productivity apps.

No material difference in gaming performance on Alder Lake, I suspect the same on Raptor Lake.

Overall for the LGA 1700 chips, you'll find that the lower price point boards use DDR4 and the higher price point boards use DDR5. If you want the features, beefier VRMs, etc. of the premium boards, then you'll be in DDR5 land. If you're looking at barebones features and cheapest rig you can get, DDR4 wins.

I would say i5 13600k would be best cpu for gaming right now for me personally, i am picking up i5 13600k and selling off my i5 12600k :D

I don't think It's worth the jump. The only thing I would ditch my 12700kf for is when I can get the 6ghz 13900ks in a year or two for very cheap. Anything else isn't worth the trouble.

definitely not worth it.
better wait for next gen as the z690/z790 platform is dead end platform.
12700K is still relevant today if you compare it to 13700k / 13900k

well... I was sort of forced to buy a few months ago, So I went with a 12700K as my wife's pc ate crap and so I gave her my Ryzen 3600 ... other than braggin' rights nothing I have seen makes me wanna fork out for a 13th gen at this point... I will probably wait a gen or two before moving from my 12700K, at which point the 12700K will goto the wife and the 3600 will move to the standby pc in case one of our computer's decided to break for some reason.

I upgraded a 12700K to the 13700K. Kept the same Z690 board and DDR4 memory and I was able to sell the 12700K for a decent price so the cash outlay for the upgrade wasn't much. The Raptor Lake is better matched with the 4090 IMO. Notably less CPU bottlenecking in games. Multithreaded apps also benefit significantly.

As for daily computer usage, not so much improvement, if at all.

Did the same. Cost me less than $200 to upgrade.

I upgrade every 4th/5th gen, so can't imagine much improvement going up a single gen. I almost waited until 14th gen, but got a sweet deal on my Z790 mobo and i7-13700.

Raptor Lake e-cores clocked to reasonable limits are almost as fast as Sky Lake cores (anything from 6th to 10th gen Core) so it was probably good time to upgrade.

Just one last question will it be worth upgrading to in a few years once my i7 12700k is outdated and other faster chips are cheaper or will the 13700k and 13900k most likely be outdated too ?

I know 14700k or higher will require different socket :(

So I will need a new mobo then.
