Those backplates tend to have a thin later of clear plastic protective covering, I'd bet that is what it getting burned/discoloured, rather than the metal underneath, I'd be interested to know.
And back in my day we had UV cold cathode tubes everywhere and UV reactive additives in the...
I believe it's an intel CPU hardware issue, easily rectified in software with almost no real-world performance loss, they likely already have the fix.
The trouble is when you roll it out, what spin do you give?
Just seen this thread:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/540532/geforce-grd-55212-feedback-thread-released-4424/
People generally agree things were ok with nvidia drivers till about October last year, which is EXACTLY what I'm seeing in my event logs. My logs go...
Great, 13900K user here, thought I was unnaffected as I've not really noticed any major crashing, but then, I don't tend to play a alot of very recent games.
But I looked in my event viewer for WHEA errors anyway, and sure enough, the last 3 new games I've installed have apparently thrown WHEA...
Absolutely NO mention of Guild Wars 2 so far in this thread! Shocking!
A recent Guild Wars 3 rumour was essentially shot down, GW2 still going strong, no need to compete with themselves ;)...
I'm expecting/hoping there'll be alot of OC headroom if AIBs are allowed to really ramp up the TDP from 320w. It seems clear already that limiting the power to the exact same as the 4080 makes it perform almost exactly the same.
The Zotac cards are using the 4090 heatsink, obviously capable of...
We just need to make it till ray tracing is standard and that the workload can't be used for anything other than rendering graphics scenes.
Modern GPUs are unfortunately too multi-purpose these days.
I've found the DL versions perform signifcantly faster, and they also add a bit of sharpening as well. Infact in some cases 2.25x DL can look better than 4x pure. The DL versions also have the advantage of not scaling the UI of old games to being insanely small.
DSR is one of the die hard...
13900K, E cores disabled, HTT disabled, Windows 10. All cores locked to 5.8ghz.
STILL to this day enabling hyper threading degrades gaming performance on a well optimised PC. If you game with lots of background apps running, then yeah sure, enable HTT, but if you truly want the best frame rates...
It's basically dead in terms of bios tweaking, volt modding etc.
CPU companies are now effectively doing what 3rd party sites like Silicon Lottery were doing. It's no longer the case that you can buy a low end CPU and 'luck out' that it could/should have been a higher binned part but got...
The Asus tax is in no way justified these days, hasn't been for years infact. Strix now just means average, and TUF = el cheapo bargain budget shit. MSI are now the new Asus imho.
Nowadays GPU overclocking is basically dead, it's just pure luck on the quality of the gpu silicon that makes any...
100% recyclable packaging!*
Made with cheaper materials
No optical drive
Same great price!
*Too many times have I wanted to buy something only to discover the packaging isn't 100% recycable and so I can't buy it. So glad to see this here.
It always makes me laugh that the general attitude seems to be that these companies are just choosing to price high. Making these cards, the research and development costs ALOT. Making graphics cards isn't like, "Hey last card was great, let's just go make and even faster one with latest node...
I think it's easy to forget that going from 1080p to 4K is not 2 times, but 4 times more demanding in terms of raw pixel count, not to mention all the extra overhead on the memory sub system to push all those pixels. Graphics cards haven't been delivering anywhere near the improvement generation...
Monitor?! What is a "monitor"? What are you monitoring exactly?
No, it's a Visual Display Unit. Your 'Televsion' and mobile phones are also Visual Display Units.
Have you tried disabling Hyperthreading?
Also underclocking your mem or overvolting it?
I would try resetting the bios to stock and start from there, updating the bios if there's a newer one might help further.
This might help: I've just come out of spending the last 3 months trying to diagnose and fix my PC crashing under heavy load. I had isolated every component to no avail.
The culprit? I was running my PC power lead through a wattage meter. Removed that, problem resolved! Can't believe I just...
I can only conclude the cost of modern GPUs is just so damn high these days, for whatever reasons. If nvidia could pump these out dirt cheap, why not sell 'em cheaper?
Low volume expensive parts is not something you would choose to do if you could just as easily do high volume lower prices...
The problem really is just that everyone has cheaped out and combined the 3 8pin connector leads terminal with the 12pin connector. There should be the 3 8pin leads, a terminal block, then a chunky lead, then the final 12pin connector.
So basically nvidia has another 1st gen Fermi on their hands. When the reviews come out we will see how they're only ~20% faster in raster perf/watt and only can only make performance gains with raw power.
And I expect to see 600w AIB variants sooner rather than later, and definitely by the...
Looks like that stupid back fan was added 'last minute'. Notice how it overlaps the X in 'RTX'. Was probably originally meant to have just holes there.
What I was getting it is what new magic sauce is nvidia gonna bring to the table, if any?
"Project Beyond", Beyond what?
DLSS etc. were qualitative upgrades. We're weeks away from launch and I've not seen any mention of new tech, just 'new node, faster more power'.
So what's the 'killer app' gonna be for this gen then? Seems it's gonna be about the most jaded generation yet.
1080 - 4K Gaming!
2080 - Ray Tracing!
3080 - Mining Playable Ray Tracing + 8K!
4080 - ???
o_O
Some good news, it seems nvidia have actually dropped prices on their UK store, by as much as £300. They were previously offering a £280 rebate of the 3090ti only, but now it's an across the board upfront discount:
https://store.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/store/?page=1&limit=9&locale=en-gb
I've...
I'd say it's real. If making a fake, why make the "4080" not in bold font like it is on the 3090?
Anyone good enough to shop the fan etc. wouldn't be stupid enough to make such a glaring 'mistake'.
Nvidia have never dropped prices on old gens. Expect the 4080 to cost more or equal to a 3090ti, and the 4080ti to set a new record high. AMD has no answer.
I watercool and lap both cpu and block for every new install. Been doing this as a matter of course for years. IHSs have always been a problem in some form, but it's better than a cracked cpu.
The problem with Stress testing software is that Nvidia/AMD driver developers have access to them as well, and so can spend alot of time tuning drivers to make those specific tests stable.
The only real test is the current game you're playing. For me it's Apex that'll crash first before...
Bit late to this thread, but no beep code usually means dead cpu. Did you try a different cpu?
If not, the replacement board might do the exact same thing.
