Never liked LTT, and apparently they're fast becoming The Verge

I know the economics are un / less feasible, but miss written content from back in the day ala [ H ], AnandTech, JonnyGuru, StorageReview, XBitLabs, Hexus, AGN3D, etc.
The 4070 is a great card, except for pricing.
3080 performance (and only ~6-10% less than 3080Ti), ~50% power usage, much shorter length and just 2 slots
Definitely keeping an eye on it as a upgrade path for my small eVGA 3060Ti
While I like Pis, they don't make a lot of sense at their current inflated prices, unless you absolutely need GPIO
Would rather use USFF PCs like Dell OptiPlex Micros - cheap, still fairly small, and way more powerful and expandable than a Pi
It's my fault. Bought 2x BFG EX-1000 PSUs back in the day, BFG went kaput
Built the rig in my sig with an eVGA 3060 Ti + G3 650W, eVGA now going kaput
But hey, at the both EX-1000s are still going strong!
Boot any live Linux distro and :
sudo hdparm --user-master u --security-set-pass hardocp /dev/sdX
sudo hdparm --user-master u --security-erase hardocp /dev/sdX
Like my mix of 1920x1200 (24") and 1600x1200 (20") monitors
I realize that DPI scaling is much improved in Win8+, but still prefer not having to use it since some program, somewhere inevitably doesn't play ball with the Windows text scaling setting
R9 290X -> 1080 (super cheap upgrade during the crypto craze on ATi GPUs) -> 3060 Ti
May look into an FE-sized 4070 for the right price (want to keep it at 2 slots + 270mm max)
:(
Still have most of the setup from 2002 (EPoX 8K3A+, AXP 2000+, Leadtek Ti4400, Zalman CNPS6000-Cu)
Kind of special :
- they were all review samples from EPoX, AMD, Leadtek, and Zalman respectively
- 1st semester of college - played through Morrowind and GTA III on that setup in style
No worries, but Dell non-SFF / desktops / "MT" models have not been able to take standard ATX PSUs for awhile now (Series 5 starting with x040+)
Those good times ended with the OptiPlex x020 :(
The modern x040+ models can be (very slightly) modded to take OptiPlex SFF PSUs (like the 315W mentioned)
Not true. Have a MT OptiPlex 7040 that is running an 6700K + 1660 Super.
Just get a Dell 315W SFF PSU (cheap - paid ~$13 shipped IIRC), drill an extra mounting hole at the back, and there you go.
There's a YouTube video of someone doing the same, but he is an absolute retard who ended up...
Love my Lian Li 170M (~$50). Only available at Micro Center, and no info available on Lian Li's site, but it is what made me decide to do a new build
Wanted a small mATX that is not super-exotically-priced, uses standard ATX PSU, etc.
Not an expensive / exotic, large ITX case that requires...
