no it's not a great idea. as has been said a million times, fridges are great at removing heat from food, but as soon as you introduce a constant heat source you'll just burn them out.
oh man, i remember playing that game for ages on my dads ibm, which was two years older than me and i was born in '84. It ran like SHIT on that too, lol.
anyways, to the original poster, freezing is your only hope. if it fails after an hour in the freezer, don't panic. go to an ice cream...
just rma it to gainward. say it checkerboards or something and they'll get you a new card. then sell it and never buy gainward again. after two consecutive rma's i know i won't.
at this point i think intel has lost the performance crown, for the forseeable future. why do you want to upgrade to the new socket and not say socket 939? im not an amd fanboy. all my computers are intel (although i hope that changes soon), im just curious what's influencing your decision.
how incredibly insightful. thanks for livening up the debate! i mean, you made it pretty clear that what i said is wrong, and im sure others will read your post and become convinced as i have.
ok, it seems i struck a nerve, and although you went on the defensive you couldn't post some evidence? im not if you read the thread title, but we're talking about 4:5 or 1:1. i know you're just baiting me, but perhaps you thought i wouldn't respond.
i said we tried the MSI board twice, and sent it back both times to newegg. the p4c800 is a very expensive board (although no quite as outrageous as an ic7). and what i wanted and what i expected are two very different things. i sure as hell expected it to run a little quicker than this, but...
the 2.4a allows you to overclock while staying synced 1:1 with the ram at all times, you don't need any uber pc4000 ram either. dividers other than 1:1 seem like additional latencies to me. but it all comes down to what you use your box for. if hyperthreading can benefit you (ie do you have...
let me just add that im the thread poster's brother. we took kyle's recommendation and went for the MSI board, twice. it went back both times. it's been around 4 years since i've had a via chipset and now i know why. i really wanted to see this thing hit 200mhz, since it was my...
we've been playing with his chip since he got it, around april i suppose, and i just couldn't be more disapointed with the p4c800's bios. at one point we had the ram running at 225mhz, right now it sits at 178mhz, so something else is causing the problems. at this point, i guess it's the chip...
i wouldn't go that far. i mean, as long as you have a dual dual-core cpus and 2 pci express graphics adapters, couple gigabytes of ram and some striped wd raptors you should be able to run it at 800x600 with normal details. that's my experience at least.
just to let you know, that antec looks the same size, and quite possibly shorter than a sonata... these cases are an absolute BITCH to work in, especially the sonata. as much as i love it, if you are gonna be inside your case a lot just don't do it.
(look at where the power supply is in...
5:4 will introduce additional latencies, and since the memory speed is slower, i would fully expect it to have craptacular performance in certain instances.
computer in a fridge = nerd pipe dream. not only will your computer overheat, but you'll also kill a perfectly good refrigerator. and last time i checked oranges didn't dissipate 200+ watts of heat.
i suppose you could put all the cds on a dvd+- disc and use that to install, i know for 2k3 i'd put all the data from the cds in one folder and it would install mega fast.
pretty sure my house would catch on fire if i drew the current it requires :/
might be able to use the 220volt plug that your washer and dryer use for a while before => fire.
huh, so that means prescott has been under the magnifying glass for well over 3 years. intel threw money at a loser it looks like and couldn't admit it.
does anyone else have the feeling that intel just ran into a huge wall?
there's no way im putting a prescott into a confined case, same goes with that ddr2 sham.
