4K 27" Mini-LED with good local dimming and 144+ Hz refresh rate?

I have had the Acer X27 since inception (2018) and have it alongside my XG321UG. Only 384 zones but I still use it about 50% of the time (mostly for browsing/productivity while I game on the larger display) because the larger display can be too big for productivity for me. I am still astounded...

Anyone out there with too much money have experience with both the ASUS PG32UQX and the Dell AW3423DW(F)?

So the X27 had a fan and I was able to enter the service menu and lower the fan speeds significantly such that it was not audible. The temps were ok as well from what I remember. Likely you can do the same with the ASUS but not 100% sure. However, since yours is still under warranty that is the...

Switching from top of the line Mini-LED to 3rd gen QD-OLED?

I compared an XG321UG to the AW32 OLED side-by-side. Check out this thread here: https://hardforum.com/threads/alienware-aw3225qf-32-4k-240-hz-oled.2032779/page-3#post-1045825212 After having used the AW now for almost a month with the XG I can confidently say the XG is superior in HDR and the...

    Alienware AW3225QF 32" 4K 240 Hz OLED

Supposedly QD-OLED is supposed to mitigate this when compared to WOLED (white boost pixel) according to this blog article by Samsung itself. Kinda interesting read. How much of it is marketing hype? Probably some...

    Alienware AW3225QF 32" 4K 240 Hz OLED

I don’t. When I first started up the monitor Windows recorded it as 8-bit. But then when I booted up later it stated 10-bit (before I posted above) so I may be wrong…I could not find the answer on Dell site. I know for sure however the previous AW34 was an 8-bit+FRC. The monitor comes factory...

    Alienware AW3225QF 32" 4K 240 Hz OLED

No fan I can hear. I got mine yesterday. Side-by-side with my XG321UG. Preliminary thoughts after several hours testing: — General: 1. No fan noise audible so far. 2. Curve is very slight but it’s there. If you don’t like curved monitors (like me) it might be a turn-off, but it could be...

What do we think of Sony moving away from OLED and back to LED?

I would argue the only thing OLED does better than mini-LED is motion and lack of any haloes. Everything else a well dialed-in mini-LED does better: better brightness in simple test patters and complex imagery where average brightness is more important than just a highlight, and from this...

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

World’s first 5088 mini-LED partition by Redmagic. Review by Snowman. Summary: haloing appears to be improved, color gamut could be better, uniformity average. Response time avg. brightness high but has some ABL. worth a watch. Appears to be an AUO panel? I didn’t see this on any roadmap...

    32" 4K, or 27" 4K - Can't decide

I have both (a 32 inch and 27 inch FALD). I bought my 32 inch to replace my 27 inch for gaming and general /work use, but I work at an office so mostly for the first two. A 32 inch is enormous compared to the 27 inch sitting on your desk: I had to adjust to the size and honestly sit further...

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

THIS is exactly right. The smaller the size, the harder it is to brighten because they use something called MICRO LENS ARRAYS. These are essentially small lenses that magnify brightness between pixels? Sorry, I don’t have an engineering background, but the assumption it is tricky to make them...

Anyone out there with too much money have experience with both the ASUS PG32UQX and the Dell AW3423DW(F)?

The biggest thing is the XG321UG either has passive cooling or a silent fan as there is no fan noise. It also has a more professional and less gamey look if that’s important to you. The PG32UQX had an audible fan, but some say the more recent models fans have quieted down a bit. Also the PG...

Anyone out there with too much money have experience with both the ASUS PG32UQX and the Dell AW3423DW(F)?

I had owned both at one time (though I have XG321UG- same panel as PG). I echo Bigmonitor above. One really big consideration is if you are going to be watching much media or console then PG all the way as the black bars on side and 1440p resolution was what ultimately had me return the OLED.

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

Interesting. Looks like Acer is coming out with a non-cutdown version of its x32. It will have 1152 dimming zones akin to the UQX but have hdmi 2.1 support, as well as quoted gtg of 1ms so a faster panel. Im sure it’ll cost north of $2k but that’s just my guess. It will be interesting to see if...

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

The “elephant in the room” for the G8 and AW for me is that they are curved. I unequivocally prefer flat panels to curved monitors so the PG/XG will always be superior. That and for the AW it is 1440p..which to my eyes I can easily notice as I’ve been using 4K exclusively since 2018.

The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

Agreed. When I put my X27 next to the XG321UG, I also notice it has less "blooming" but that is because , in a side-by-side comparison, the black levels are lifted all around so as to compensate for the lower number of dimming zones. The blacks on the X27 are not as deep as the XG321UG. So you...

You’re comparing a 5 year old monitor with normal LED FALD to a current gen? The current monitor you’re comparing it to has newer tech mini-LEDs so while I agree dialing in FALD algorithm is important you are comparing apples to oranges here. You might as well compare Plasma to OLED. IPS is...

Thanks so much for reporting your findings! May I ask, how did you contact Viewsonic to have this done? Did you email CR or cal them directly? I have had the XG more than a year and yes, I have to change the response time every time as well, but everything else saves. Interesting that there is a new firmware, I never contacted them about that. My understanding is that since the monitor has a Gsync chip one cannot access the service...

better and brighter monitor than SW321C

What is your use-case? If you are intending to use the monitor for color-critical work, such as photography and video editing, and want high brightness (VESA HDR 1000 or greater) then the Asus ProArt is probably what you are looking for. They are quite expensive though. PA32UCG/UCR. The...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

At Touch Taiwan, AUO mentions they are slowly transitioning to micro-LED but the tech has not fully matured yet. They expect prices to drop 50% every 2 years once they become commercially available, which is not likely for another 2-4 years. Slowly, these devices will overtake both mini-LED and...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

Like others have voiced above, I would argue the advantage of “better contrast” that OLEDs have claim is even a mute point now compared to mini-LED. The black levels of a proper mini-LED is basically pure black. It looks like the screen is off in the areas where it should show pure black. Also...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

I don't think OLED televisions will ever approach the brightness levels of mini-LED aside from in a lab, simply because the reality is manufacturers would have to price them so high to warrant them against burn-in within 3 years. It's a different situation than from the AW QD-OLED (and that has...

Triple 32" 4K monitor with g-sync... and good value :)

Regarding high-tier PG32uqx/XG321UG panel I thought these panels were DC dimming. It is mean they are fast frequency PWM? On TFTcentral review of this panel they show it is DC Dimming on voltage graph? I ask because I am recently getting dizziness looking at monitor too closely.

Actually they do...have you seen this website? Kinda cool to see the benefits of mini-LED over OLED...but scroll all the way to the bottom. They have PG32UQX listed there. I think maybe the "adaptive" was included perhaps because the "newer" monitors have an integrated chip as AUO OEM rather...

I had PG32UQX and then XG321UG one right after the other. They are essentially the same, but can confirm there is NO fan noise on the XG at all. Basically zero for all intents and purposes. The PG did have a better UI and gamier design. Both are par excellence monitors for true image quality...

I think less "haloing" is not true. I have BOTH the X27 and currently Xg321UG. I have compared them rigorously side-by-side, elbow-to-elbow as it were.. The X27 does have haloing but it is less noticeable because of its lower peak brightness and larger dimming zones which subsequently hurt its...

    ViewSonic XG321UG 32" Issues

I have had this monitor since 3/2022 and love it.
