Thanks for the reply - do you know what eco mode is doing, other than just reducing PPT/TDC/EDC?
Because it seems to be doing something else to reduce idle at the wall power somehow.
I don't really understand how eco mode reduces my at-the-wall power from 78W to 48W at idle, when at idle the processor is using far less than the limits of eco mode anyway?
I tried eco mode and found my single-core boost improved to a rock-solid 4950MHz, but understandably dropped all-core...
I just tried this - I removed the bifurcator, turned the BIOS back to x16, and the AER error disappear (even though AER is still enabled).
When I try x8x8 and just have one GPU (no nvme drive or second GPU), the AER errors return. And not just a few - the logs are completely full of them.
Thanks inf3rno - what I'm not clear on is if AER is uncovering, or causing issues? I mean, I have the problem before enabling AER, so wondering if this is explaining it?
C_Payne - I'm trying your bifurcator for the first time in a new way - passing through two different GPUs, to two different VMs, at the same time (whereas previously the guest had one, and the host had one).
What's really peculiar is that I can passthrough both GPUs to a *one* VM fine. But if I...
You're right, sorry not sure why I put the 'S' in the wrong place.
So you're saying the R83SR, presumably because it can be folded over to get the right spacing, while then putting the slot in the right orientation?
C_Payne Can I get your recommendation on what riser to use with your x8x4x4 in the nCase M1 please?
You mention "R83SR" on your site, but I can't find one on their page: http://www.adt.link/x16.html
There seems to be two possibilities on http://www.adt.link/product/R83.html
RS83R - I think...
Is anyone using @C_Payne’s ncase m1 bifurcator with a low-profile GPU? I’ve searched through the forums and most seem to want other cards like sound cards or 10G networking.
I just wanted to call out publicly how impressed I’ve been with your help, and excellent service with sending a replacement riser, even when it turned the problem was actually with my motherboard.
Thanks C_Payne - I had to change ACS from 'auto' to 'enabled'. In separate groups now.
IOMMU Group 28:
0a:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Ellesmere [Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X/590] [1002:67df] (rev e7)
0a:00.1 Audio device...
So I've finally got bifurcation working thanks to C_Payne
However, now I've hit another issue - the plan all along was to passthrough the second GPU to a VM, but it turns out that both GPUs now appear in the same IOMMU group!
Does anyone know then if this fundamentally won't work?
IOMMU Group...
I don’t think it’s just no output in the BIOS, as it doesn’t proceed to boot either.
Will try as you say though. The splitter may arrive today so can hopefully try this out.
EDIT - Package status only just says 'leaving Germany' as of this morning. so I guess not.
C_Payne - will the splitter work with one GPU that only has a x4 connection?
I bought a GT 1030 and when BIOS is in default 1x16 mode, it only negotiates at x4.
I subsequently read up on this, and it's just how that model is designed (and looking at the board in hand, you can see only the...
I've gone ahead and ordered this one from your shop, as hoping it'll be more flexible for future projects. Do you happen to recommend a supplier for 5cm risers? If not I'll have to find on on eBay I guess.
I love the idea of custom, but image that's a lot of work and cost of producing a one-off.
So I think I've settled on the two GPUs I think will work in the Ghost S1:
1. A small passively cooled 1030 to serve as a decent 4k @ 60Hz desktop GPU (essentially to replace the missing aGPU in the Ryzen) - https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GT-1030-2GH-LP-OC/Specification
2. A...
So C_Payne - I just need to choose one of your splitters, and a second GPU! Thanks for your help.
This one: https://peine-braun.net/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=65_59&product_id=68 looks like it would point upwards in my case, and as I don't want a top hat, I don't think that would...
News flash - found a combination that worked.
1. Download A40vA6 2019-03-07 - the version just before Ryzen 3 / Zen 2 support http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/mb/7A40vA6.zip
2. Modify as per this thread
3. Flash from a flash utility of your choice (M-FLASH on BIOS will refuse to downgrade)...
So I've got further, thanks to a suggestion in https://www.win-raid.com/t5504f16-Attempting-to-enable-x-bifurcation-in-MSI-B-ITX-Gaming-Plus-AC.html#msg96110
I was able to enable the menu:
However, won't even post with the 2x8 option selected.
Wondering if that just means I need the...
C_Payne - I'm assuming I'm going to get my board working, or at least get the ASRock one, so in the meatntime, can I clarify which adapter I'll need please?
I have exactly the same case as this one. I've linked the time in the video he's installing it:
Is ebay or your shop the best option?
Someone here claims to have been able to enable it: https://www.win-raid.com/t5504f16-Attempting-to-enable-x-bifurcation-in-MSI-B-ITX-Gaming-Plus-AC.html#msg96096
I'm not sure I understand how, so have asked for clarification. It sounds like you blank out some GUIDs, but why that works (if that...
Against my better judgement (as it's probably a time sink), I've been looking in the BIOS with UEFI tools. As it happens the options are indeed there.
The section is called:
0x82B8 AMD PBS (0x2 from string package 0x0)
And there's an option in there for 2x16:
0x82E2...
The next thing actually - once I've got a motherboard that can do it - I need one of C_Payne's splitters that will physically fit the Louqe Ghost S1.
Here's a picture of one from the net (not mine) - you can see there's no clearance at the top. The socket for the GPU is screwed in to the...
I'm fairly confident in the ASRock one, as it's explicitly mentioned as a feature in their specs: https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty%20B450%20Gaming-ITXac/index.asp#Specification
There's one more thing I'm going to try - will see if I can patch the MSI BIOS to enable it, as I think it's...
Thanks for your help.
So I started on the latest: 7A40vAAComboPI1.0.0.3abba (not sure why they name it ComboPI rather than AGESA)
Then I downgraded to: 7A40vA7 ComboPI1.0.0.3ab
Then I tried downgrading further to: 7A40vA2 AGESA Code 1.0.0.6 - but it gave me a message about not allowing to...
'
I've opened a technical ticket with them - will see if they get back.
In the meantime looking at https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450I-GAMING-PLUS-AC#down-bios it's not obvious which to chose, other than the latest.
Perhaps the one where they mentioned "Change BIOS UI to Click...
I tried all the options in there - it's either 1x16 or 4x4 - no 8x8, even when I select it.
Guessing they just reused the BIOS when they added Ryzen 2 support across their products, and forgot to remove that from the menu. It wasn't there in the original BIOS, and it's not formally mentioned in...
I just came here after Googling about PCIe Googling - i see this single thread in a single forum seems to be the go-to place! I also found C_Payne's products on ebay.
I have an MSI B450i Gaming Plus AC with a Ryzen 2700X. As that doesn't have an iGPU, I was looking to add a second basic one...
