My guess is $1999 for FE cards. Especially if the performance jump is true.
Of course the entire pricing model regarding nvidia cards is outrageous, but is this such a ridiculous prediction?
Hi all,
Selling a gently used 7700X that was used for about 3 months before switching to an X3D processor, never overclocked (sorry about the bad paste removal...was in a rush, will throw in some Noctua wipes).
Also selling the G.Skill 32GB DDR5 kit that comes with the Microcenter kit CL36...
Does lowering the SoC voltage prevent you from being able to run the tightest timings? I have some Corsair Vengeance DDR6000 rated for 30-36-36-76 when set to EXPO II. Will I still be able to run the same settings?
Can someone give me the TLDR?
Looking to drop in a 7800X3D on an Asus x670E board running DDR5-6000 - am I good to go with the latest BIOS update? Ok to enable AMD EXPO memory settings or is that what caused all the aforementioned issues?
The TPU one at least mentioned the 1% lows.
I think everyone knew that the 1440p/4k performance benefit would be negligible, but the lows are what many of us are interested in. Also hard to benchmark this in certain RTS/MMO games where the 3D cache will really shine (theoretically).
So I...
2023 and we're still basing performance on $700 CPUs on 1080p benchmarks?
If the x3D chips were crushing Raptorlake, AMD would be yelling it from the rooftops by now.
I'll wait to see the 4k benchmarks, especially the lows, but I have a feeling the entire package may be a bit underwhelming.
Finally built my system with the Zotac 4090 Amp Extreme Airo. My first time going with Zotac (wanted FE but lucked out with stock at Microcenter) and pleased so far. No coil whine (using an ATX 3.0 PSU, not sure if that helps) and overall fairly quiet. Bios fan control has a quiet mode that I...
Yeah we'll see...IIRC AMD undersold the 5800X3D and reviewers were blown away by it.
I don't expect that same level of delta this time around, but I think AMD will retake the crown slightly, although at 4K it's basically a tie now anyway.
I'm hoping these get proper reviews looking at 1%...
The chiplet with the stacked cache will definitely boost lower.
Will have to wait for benchmarks but it sounds like a scheduling nightmare for Windows. Will it know how to optimally assign which CCD for cache sensitive games/tasks vs those that are more frequency sensitive?
Could just opt...
It's happening. But so far AMD is only touting 1080p gains over the 5800X3D...

Sorry if this is a silly question, but how are you all applying your thermal paste to these new Ryzen processors especially with respect to all the jagged cutouts?
I've always gone with the single pea-sized dot in the middle but have seen some videos where they advocate to spread it to every...
OP I'm in the same boat coming from a 8086k and it was simply time for me to build a new system anyway, so a current-gen CPU is what I'll be getting regardless.
Personally, I couldn't fathom spending that much on a 4090 and then turn around and pair it with a 5 year old CPU, but that's me and...
I bought the Zotac Amp Extreme but haven't built my new system yet. Any coil whine with yours or Zotac models in general?
I know a lot of factors go into coil whine. I'm curious to see if the ATX 3.0 PSUs alleviate this to any extent?
Yes, taking the plunge myself from a 8086k system built nearly 5 years ago. Going 7700k on an Asus ROG Strix X670E-E, will swap to a X3D chip once they're available. Snagged some Corsair DDR5-6000 with the tightest timings possible, hopefully no issues otherwise I'll roll with the free MC bundle.
Yeah I just left MC and they had like 3 4090s on the shelves. I think they had one of the MSI MEG 1300W PSUs a couple of weeks ago but that was it (for which now newegg is giving an ETA of 12/22).
Walked into my local MC after work and grabbed the last Zotac 4090 Amp Extreme.
Not sure how I feel about spending this much on one piece of hardware so I'm trying to just not think about it at this point.
Everything just sucks right now with GPU prices/shortages and now even new PSUs are hard to come by. Yes it's a new standard and they're slowly trickling in, but in 25 years of system building I've never seen it like this where prices are outrageous and inventory doesn't last more than a few...
I want to like the 7900 XTX but I can't decide whether to feel dirty about paying that much and still getting last gen RT performance.
Honestly ALL of these cards are like $100-200 overpriced. What a shitty time to be looking for a new build.
With HDMI 2.1, is it now preferable to set your HDMI input to PC mode vs game mode? I remember over the summer people were recommending Game Mode with HDMI 2.0, but I don't remember why...
Those of you with 3000 series cards...was the only way to get 120 hz was to select the "custom" PC resolution and not under the Ultra HD listings? RBG and 10 bpc are the max via HDMI 2.1, correct? What are the ideal settings otherwise (both TV and nvidia control panel)?
Just picked up a ROG Strix 3080 at my local Microcenter in Columbus, OH. They had a "couple" of these as well as a 3080 Tuf, Zotac 3090 and also a Strix 3090.
Almost went for the 3090 but thought better of it. Good luck to all.
