Project MT4 - 3D printed mini tower case

I'm not sure yet if the design will be posted on Thingiverse, as I was originally intending to have it distributed by some other means. Now, I recently bought a newer GPU. I swapped out the R9 285 for a RX 570. The mini Sapphire Pulse looks great and it should not get as hot as the old card (I...

Project MT4 - 3D printed mini tower case

That is one of the priorities for the next version of this case. Right now I can answer if a HDPlex 400W can fit with a "maybe" but the cables will be a tight squeeze. The next version should have better positioning for the 400W. Alternatively there's also a KMPKT Dynamo 360 which can augment...

Project MT4 - 3D printed mini tower case

Here's some more build pics, this time with the Dynamo Mini installed. You can see from the photos a clear sense of scale next to a 240W power brick, and shows how long the cables are in the case, and the height limitations (which will be fixed in the next version of the case design)...

Project MT4 - 3D printed mini tower case

A fully internal PSU is possible if you go with something like a MeanWell EPP-200 which is small enough to fit completely under the card. It just requires more of a DIY approach to wiring.

Project MT4 - 3D printed mini tower case

I'm building another custom small form factor case, this time it's 4.2 liter case that can fit a short GPU. Unlike most custom cases shown here, this one isn't made of metal. Most of the frame and exterior structure is 3D printed. Since I don't have a printer of my own, I had to choose third...

    PROJECT ONE2 (12V Distribution board)

Hey TheHack, nice to see your project over here. Prototypes look good. Are the connectors and screw terminals the only components that aren't soldered on in that picture? You could possibly sell some as a DIY kit if it can save you some costs.

Project Thin-X, a custom mini PC case with discrete GPU build

This build uses a case I designed and made myself. For now, it's called Project Thin-X, for Thin Mini-ITX with eXpansion card support. Imgur album: https://imgur.com/a/Q0ABQiu The construction is 3D printed (SLS) frame parts with acrylic panels. It's production ready and could fit both...

PROJECT VERTICAL: Small footprint - Huge airflow - Touchdisplay - 19.9 L mATX

This case has two things going for it. 1. mATX support which is under-represented for smaller cases IMO. Also, its vertical orientation. Just eyeballing it here but it looks shorter than the Phanteks Shift (which to me is good) at the expense of a larger footprint. With that said, I also think...

GHOST S1 - When both size & performance matters

The large top hat would definitely be a good opportunity to use in conjunction with a hybrid cooled graphics card. The radiator for their AIO coolers tend to be on the slimmer side, and they should be able to mount to the top. Or just with any AIO be it CPU or GPU.

    Mini LP - A general-purpose case for low-profile cards

Thanks. I am building this case since I wanted something that is made more for LP cards and therefore less empty space, and with a different style. Also, I cannot currently afford the S4 Mini case. If I were to produce this case to sell, it should have to be noticeably cheaper than the S4 Mini...

    Mini LP - A general-purpose case for low-profile cards

Hello members of [H], I'm currently doing a build with a custom case that houses low-profile cards. Unlike many other SFF cases on here, I'm not on a mission to squeeze the most kick-ass hardware in a particular space or layout, but rather in focusing on low-profile cards and low power...

Anyone research SFF cases for APU (NO GPU)?

I like the look of the In Win Chopin. It has the layout of its older BQ line of SFF cases but with the styling of the more enthusiast focused cases. It comes with its own 150W power supply too so it should be able to handle the higher end 95W APUs that AMD is bound to have.

It really looks pro now! Nice little case.

Palit releases Silent 0dB 1050 Ti

These cards will benefit most in cases where there is convection for top vents easily. I think a case like the Hutzy XS would be ideal (but don't take my word on if the tall heatsink actually fits in that case), in particular as the fins of the heatsink run vertically, easily allowing the hot...

    CustomMOD Mini 3.24L

Following this also on SFF Forum, and looks interesting. Pretty much a Hutzy XS, just even smaller due to the different PSU support. EDIT: Saw your post there saying it will be laser cut. The hexagons look very close to each other, so hoping that the metal in between won't become warped and weak.

Intel 200 series ITX motherboards (Kaby Lake)

Two things I really like: More m.2 support, especially PCIe Gen 3 interface. Go with it or go home, especially ITX. Also, the RGB craziness has the nice side effect of promoting more monochrome designs.

Sub-6 Liter Case for Mini-ITX and SFX PSU (No GPU)

It's too close to call with the Chopin. Phuncz installed a Alpenföhn Silvretta which is 45mm in height and it appears to almost touch the side panel, even though the side panel already bulges outward. I would get the Antec ISK300-150. Built-in PSU and there's plenty of room there for your C7 fan.

That build and cooling loop is looking real boss. Great job fitting all of that in there.

    Custom case questions.

There's no full-cover blocks for the GTX 160 but EK Thermosphere is compatible with some of its models. However I would just as well go for a RX 480 as it does have a full cover waterblock and you can easily convert it into single slot to save room. My biggest critique with the layout is simply...

    Project H20-Micro a Watercooled 3 Liter system with GTX970

I have no first-hand experience with ASUS support but I keep reading that their support is hit-or-miss at best. I'm thinking of doing something similar for powering a graphics card with a thin mini board, just as a stock air-cooled setup. There are various ways you can go about it- using a m.2...

    Gigabyte BRIX Gaming UHD (2016)

S4 Mini - An ULTRA-SFF Chassis shipping this December!

The Gigabyte 1070 mini needed a mod in the HD-PLEX power connector to fit properly. One of the screw tabs had to be removed. But it still holds in well with just the other screw.

Help me finish my idea of 20l case

Yeah, the Metis was really a 'close but no cigar' layout for me. It could have benefitted from having top vents by the graphics card, plus I wanted it to support a 240mm rad but it is just 1 cm too short to support even the smallest ones of that capacity. I agree with Alexreffand that the NCase...

Project Orthrus - Smallest SLI mATX case (V2)

This is a pretty stellar case and build. One of the best I've seen on this side of the forum. Just about everything is well thought out and the craftsmanship is top notch. I'm not yet sold on the random "snow" pattern of the front vent but it does make the front look a bit less boring. If this...

    ITX Polaris & Pascal cards

I want to watercool either a RX 480 or GTX 1060 but lean towards the 1060 because on paper it looks to have better thermals... But I too want to wait for a custom one. One annoyance I have with NVidia's cards is that the reference cards still put an extra DVI port on the 2nd row of the slots...

LanBox (sub 4 liter GTX 970 with internal PSU)

Nice work, I really appreciate hand made cases made with common tools a little more. And yeah using a saw for steel can be frustrating. For me the bigger nail biting moments are in bending the sheets with a home-made bending jig- they gotta be perfectly flat and well secured!

The Slim Machine: 4.5 Liter console-style custom build

I thought about using that case once. It looks nice and has a no-frills interior, but the price was more than I expected. I'm working on a tight budget and was hoping that case was more in the area of $50. The aluminum pieces I already have were leftovers from an abandoned project and I figured...

The Slim Machine: 4.5 Liter console-style custom build

This is a do-over from a previous scratch build attempt from a year and a half ago (had a thread at Overclock). I was going to make a custom PC case with dimensions similar to the PS4 (and new Xbox One) console. However, budget problems arose, lost my job so I couldn't finish up as planned. Now...

Heat dissipation and case mod idea.

While you're looking at G4 cube builds for inspiration, the Silent Cube build may be useful to you. It uses the same copper heat pipe mounts with a LED heatsink for the GPU that meshes with the original one (see this pic). It uses a GTX 750 Ti, though, so it would produce less heat than your GPU.

    Skull Canyon NUC (2016) w/ M.2 eGPU

I found this image album on r/pcmasterrace where a GTX 970 was modded into a Skull Canyon NUC using an M.2 to PCIe adapter, but it's still limited lane-wise.

CORSAIR Launches BULLDOG 4K Living Room PC

Now that's a name I haven't heard in quite a long time lol. I wasn't too much a fan of the original case but I do prefer that design over the new one. They should have stuck with brushed aluminum like with the Obsidian series of cases. Edit: I guess you could do this to your case panels:

Hutzy XS — Ultra Compact Gaming Case (<4L)

TFX is the happy medium here, and I think you could roll out with the TFX case first. It would set your case in a less crowded niche of SFF cases, no need to make it bigger otherwise requests for SFX support is gonna turn this case far into design by committee :p
  33. C

Hutzy XS — Ultra Compact Gaming Case (<4L)

It looks like these two are the unsung heroes for SFF PSUs then, and probably all the TFX we need (for now). They can fit in cases less than 100mm thick, have modular cables, and unlike most FlexATX models, they already come in black, so they would look more in place with most of our builds.
  34. C

Hutzy XS — Ultra Compact Gaming Case (<4L)

Are there that many good TFX power supplies? Good enough for gaming hardware, that is. It's a even less talked about form factor than Flex ATX in SFF circles, and I feel this would limit the flexibility of parts you can use unless the form factor somehow explodes like SFX did. And Necere brings...

    CCD MI-6: Performance in a 6.7L MIcrotower

Nice renders. I almost mistook the first one for a real case. Keeping it close to the width of 125mm for the PSU is a must, otherwise as you said there'd be no point to have the GPU vertically mounted and on a riser. And I think for the motherboard side, it would be nice to have fan mounts to...

    Msi Vortex Gaming Tower

Not quite so, actually. Just changing the form factor introduces different approaches to cooling the hardware. Motherboards with MXM support will be a pretty cool thing to have, but, their form factor could be streamlined as well. Apple wouldn't be able to make the Mac Pro in a case that...

Custom SFF PC Packs 10 TFlops of Performance featuring AMD Nano.

Cool build. Interesting choice to put the PSU behind the motherboard. But it wouldn't need the riser if it was placed over the mobo and cooler.

Compact living room gaming rig concept (~2.5 L)

I am in fact getting a thin mini-ITX board for this build, but hat one is going to occupy a lot of space on the side of the motherboard. Then I'll have to go back to making the GPU single-slot to fit it on top of both components. Looks like I'll just go with one of the normal 1U heatsink fans...

Compact living room gaming rig concept (~2.5 L)

That's a really great cooler and something I would like to use for a 750 Ti, although Gainward and current single-slot GPUs are hard to come by in the states. However I have re-considered the model that I will be using for this build. I decided to go for MSI's low-profile 750 Ti. With this...

SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

Just wanted to say those are some pretty nice photos of the case, and great way to show how all the hardware will fit in there. The market is really lacking in sub 10L Steam Machine like-cases like this (sorry RVZ01, you're too big and ugly).
