I've got a dilemma where I just can't seem to get my CPU temps under control across multiple CPUs. First, I was running a 5800x (stock) where idle was around 45c and load would hit 90c (limit) after a very short time. Temps spike in the 60cs simply by running a video in a browser.
I thought...
I'm downsizing from my Obsidian 750D that I've been using for the past 5-6 years to a mid-tower ATX. My main concerns are as follows:
Fitting my ADATA XPG Levante 240 AIO. Currently, it's mounted on the top of my 750D with plenty of space, but I'm finding it difficult finding specs on...
I'm looking for a solid, used tablet with a keyboard that can serve for internet surfing, media and some light productivity work e.g. word processing, sketches. It will travel with me for commuting daily.
I've narrowed my search to a Surface Pro 4 (i5 4300) or an iPad Pro gen 2 (10.5 inch)...
It's gonna be a minute until it's up and running, but should alleviate the chip shortage.

Happy to see it coming to Flavortown, USA, my (former) hometown.
My wife is looking to replace her 2016 MacBook (core i7, 8GB, 512gb) with a newer one as the battery is starting to go, and it's starting to feel a bit sluggish in some apps.
I wouldn't say she's a power user, but she 1) keeps a huge number of browser tabs e.g. 30 open, 3) uses some 3D...
Anyone have experience with Anda Seat chairs? I've read a few good things e.g. they use more/better materials than Secret Labs and Noble, built like a tank (at least the high-end ones), are a bit less expensive, and are comfortable. I've not actually heard from anyone with first-hand...
I've got an XFX ProSeries XXX 850w PSU that has two 8-pin PCIE connectors and two 6-pin connectors. I have a new KFA2 (Palit/Gainward/Galax) RTX 3080 ti HOF coming that has three 8-pin connectors. Can I use a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter to connect one of my PSU's 6-pin cables to the third 8-pin...

The wife has been on my case to clear out one of my two monitors, and I've decided to concede (...as is tradition). These two displays are apples and oranges, each with their own pros and cons -- the reason I've held onto both and am finding it difficult deciding. Both are in excellent...
I know this question has been out there in the broad domain, but I'm trying to figure out the consensus of the fine SMEs at [H]... I have an opportunity to swap out my RTX 3080 for a 6900 XT, likely recouping $50-100 in the process. Worth the trade? A few points that may influence the...
When I research and buy games, I generally do it in the following way: every 5-6 months check reviews of games I may have missed from the past few years, then buy 4-5 on discount in bulk/at the same time. Apart from Cyberpunk, I can't remember the last time I bought a game at release and paid...
I got a spanking deal (relative in these times) on a Gigabyte x570 Gaming X mobo. It's a solid board, but one of the areas they cut corners was on the audio chip, I/O and codec with only ACL887. Is there a sound card that will give me a bang-for-buck improvement? I'm not opposed to going...
After much ado my 3080 is finally arriving tomorrow (bought at MSRP before the gouging!). I currently have a Ryzen 3600 overclocked to 4.3ghz, and expect to run games native resolution on my 4k 60hz monitor.
My question is around CPU bottlenecking. I really don't want to move away from my...
I think this will be the first set of major new releases where [H] won't be around in the past 20 years. Where will you all be going for reviews for the upcoming Ampere (30xx series) and RDNA 2 (60xx) that should arrive Q4? I know Gamers Nexus has kind of taken up the flag of trustworthy and...
My wife continues to complain about the "deafening" noise of my keyboard. I'm using a Gigabyte Auros with Brown MXs. It's an excellent keyboard, near-perfect layout and I don't want to switch. I didn't think it was too loud compared to her MBook Pro (and non-stop work calls), but have installed...
It looks like I'm once again going mobile for work starting in December through most of 2020 and will need to get a gaming laptop. I understand this is a bit crystal ball, but are there any mobile GPUs coming expected to notably increase performance? I know Navi is on the horizon later this...
Reports are starting to arrive, unsurprisingly, that there will be several Dune games for PC and consoles are in the works to coincide with the upcoming Villeneuve movie (which is starring everyone and their brother, apparently). Funcom is doing one for PC which I think bodes well (they did a...
I'm currently looking at swapping out my Acer Predator XB281HK (4k Gsync) for a monitor that will do both Freesync and Gsync. I've narrowed my choices to the following models:
LG 27UK850 - 4k IPS HDR 60hz (although may be possible to OC to 75hz)
BenQ EX3501R - Ultrawide WQHD HDR 100hz
Both...
Apologies if posted elsewhere already, but has anyone tried to enable Freesync/adaptive sync on their Freesync monitor with an nVidia card yet? I know the below list has been certified to work by nVidia, but I've also seen reports of other Freesync models working perfectly fine without...
The wife has asked I find her a 2-in-1 and I'm a bit lost. She has a new 15in macbook for personal use, but needs something in her new job to frequently VPN into hotel desks for an agile squad amd while at client meetings, as well as keep her own company's files on. Her top criteria are...
Thought I'd start a thread as early images are starting to pop up for the Mix 3:
http://www.alphr.com/mobile-phones/1008234/xiaomi-mi-mix-3-release-date-price-specs
I owned the Mix 2 which was, apart from the lack of 3.5mm jack, probably the nicest phone I've ever used. The unibody ceramic...
I've been pretty busy with life stuff these past 5 years and have missed out on quite a few stellar games. Is there a place where I can see the best-rated PC games over the past 5 years?
Most of the sites I've been too will list the top 10-20 by year alone; Metacritic used to have a feature...
I've had my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 since October and looking to maybe switch to the V30. There's nothing wrong with the Xiaomi (on the contrary... apart from it not having an headphone jack), but the enhanced DAC on the V30 has me intrigued. I'm a bit of an audiophile and wanted to give it a shot...
So my wife finally broke and told me, while she knows I love my Aivia mechanical, the noise is driving her crazy -- I can sympathize with that.
In short, what's the best non-mechanical keyboard that that can be used for both gaming and day-to-day? I'm not looking to break the bank, but also...
Got a Mix 2 a few days back to replace my S7 Edge. Really nice phone, thought I'd add some Impressions...
- Design of the device is gorgeous (I have the all-ceramic version). It's not as "bezel-less" as my S8 (that I use for work), but the screen definitely the only thing you notice. The...
I'm looking for a decent cooler that is a step above the stock cooler for Ryzen 1600. While the wraith spire cooler does a decent job (better than any other stock cooler I've owned), I'm looking to lower my temps a bit. It's been darn near impossible finding a list of current coolers that are...
I just picked up a new monitor (LG UD68) as I wanted to switch back to 4k from 1440p. It dawned on me only after purchasing that this display doesn't have integrated speakers like my current monitor (Asus MG279G)...
I really only use speakers for listening to videos or if my wife and I are...
I may be able to get my hands on a few of these for a pittance. Anyone have a clue whether these could be strung together for use with Eyefinity or nV Surround? Pre-empting the questions as to "why", three of these could give you a compact wrap-around 5760x3240 display, or you could possibly...
I've never used a mechanical keyboard (unless my C64 and 386 25-35 years ago, and the older Bloomberg keyboards count) and am looking for a decent low-cost starter. I have the opportunity to pick up a new Osmium with Cherry MX Browns for cheap, around $45. Any opinions vs other options in this...
I was playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate and noticed that some areas and cutscenes are significantly less complete/well-done than others. For example, the beginning warehouse sequences and Southwark area in particular are really low-textured and lacking quality assets. Once you get to...
I picked up a boatload of games in the last wave of summer sales: Batman: Arkham Knight, MGS: Phantom Pain, Assassin's Creed 4-6, Thief, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Shadows of Modor and a few others. While I'm enjoying them, I've realized something: they're all essentially the same game...
I currently have an Asus MG279q (IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Freesync), but am looking at switching to an Acer XB280HK (TN, 4k, 60hz, Gsync) since I'm moving to an nVidia card (gtx 1080). I primarily want to switch so I can continue to use adaptive sync. I can make a 1:1 trade (perhaps with $50-60...
ASUS and MSI accused of sending modified cards to the press | VideoCardz.com
Worth keeping your eye on, and taking "magic" advantages shown in some AIB 1070s with a grain of salt.
On the other side, Kyle already mentioned we should keep a keen eye out for differences between VRAM on review...
My niece and nephew are driving my sister bonkers bogarting the family laptop for Minecraft. She's looking for a laptop in the $400-500 range that would be able to run Minecraft decently. I'm nearly totally unfamiliar with lower-end laptops.... Any suggestions? Was looking at an HP with an...
The trouble and strife and I are looking to upgrade our Nexus 6. She wants to move back to a Samsung device, I'm simply looking to move to something new perhaps with a better screen and ergonomics. Has anyone made the jump from a Nexus 6 to a Note 5? Good experience?
Any other suggestions...
I have an Asus MG279Q which does 35hz to 90hz Freesync. However, I just upgraded to the new AMD Crimson interface and 15.11 and when I turn Freesync to "on" (Dislplay > AMD Freesync) it only reads "Refresh Rate 35 to 60hz". Why is Freesync only going to 60hz now on my monitor?
http://www.globalfoundries.com/newsroom/press-releases/2015/11/05/globalfoundries-achieves-14nm-finfet-technology-success-for-next-generation-amd-products
Looking positive for a Q1/Q2 refresh.
As the title says, AMD is creating a "joint venture" for the QA and assembly with Fujitsu. Reading between the lines, AMD is effectively outsourcing their QA and assemble since the venture will be 85% owned by Fujitsu and Fujitsu will likely have control strategy and operations...
I'm likely behind the times here, but has anyone had success unmasking shaders on the Fury to a full Fury X yet? This ability seems to be par for the course in the first batches of high-end cards from AMD over the past couple years...
