The only thing i see missing so far is Thunderbolt 3 support. It would be nice to be able to attached super fast external storage or other peripherals to such a small powerhouse.
That's odd.. the AMD socket AM4 chipset features clearly state http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/chipsets/am4
370x USB 3.1 G2 + 3.1 G1 + 2.0 : 2+10+6
350b USB 3.1 G2 + 3.1 G1 + 2.0 : 2+6+6
Why would they not use this essential feature of the chipset? Maybe the board was originally designed...
I REALLY hope the absence of USB 3.1 gen 2 in the specifications are a mistanke as two of those are included in the X370 chipset. I have been waiting for this board since Ryzen launch and will skip if if indeed the specifications are correct.
Yeah. I'm checking this thread daily to see if anyone tried a TB3 device on the motherboard. Only need a TB3 mini-itx motherboard to finish this build.
Nice find. My 6700K and Samsung 950 Pro are still in the original boxes waiting for a Thunderbolt 3 miniitx motherboard for sweet magic to take place. *REALLY* looking forward to someone trying the port with an TB3 device.
I'm undecided between this and the Silverstone SX700. I'm mostly after a low noise unit so maybe the 120mm fan in the SX700 is the best bet, but only time will tell.
I don't understand why Intel is not pushing Thunderbolt 3 harder. There are just 5 motherboards out (full ATX) with TB3 support and the whole eGPU rollout is still very uninspired with just a few products announced at CES.
I still think eGPU is the holy grail of small form factor system and...
The Gigabyte Z170N-G5 would be a nice buy for me, but the lack of DisplayPort means i can only run my 4K screen thru HDMI at 24hz only. So annoying they put a crippled HDMI port and not a DP on this board. :(
Another weak "review" that fails to mention the missing M.2 port under cons.
Anyone interested in this board should read the Anandtech review that, out of the three, seems to have the only balanced conclusion. HardOCP lost credibility after acknowledging the "oversight" but not correcting the...
Every other Skylake mini-itx board have m.2 slot, yet no mention of this missing in the "review". There is no way around a Samsung 950 NVMe at the moment and with mini-itx pushing size limits, small m.2 drives are currently is the way to go. Asus bet on the wrong port for this mini-itx board and...
Not one word about the non existing M.2 port anywhere in the review. How can you guys ignore such an essential feature missing on this mini-itx board without even touching on it is beyond me.
I got a Nano for about $430 on black friday. I have been holding back for a next gen card but I could not ignore that price. More importantly, I will not be updating various webpages each hour for the next 6-8 month waiting for next gen cards to go on sale.
I'm waiting for the price to drop on the Nano before I get one. The sales here in Scandinavia have been close to zero and I see the card in stock everywhere including Newegg. I really want one, but it's just too expensive for what i get. My 65" 4K Samsung HDMI 2.0 is one of the reasons I'm...
M.2 is the future as small drives are the future for mITX. A u.2 connected drive need power as well so we are talking 2 cables for one drive. Asus unfortunately bet on the wrong horse and shot themselves in the foot at the same time. I really wanted this to be my next board but it's not happening.
That ASUS Z170I Pro Gaming looks like sh*te (I could live with that if the specs are right) but the lack of USB 3.1 C is a dealbreaker for me. Maybe I'll just sell my 6700K, as there is no board in the horizon that has Thunderbolt 3, M.2 and DisplayPort.
I think i will be going with a Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac but i really do want TB3 for external graphics option if i want to go that route in the future.

No mention of Thunderbolt 3 and no m.2. No DisplayPort so maximum 24hz at 4k over HDMI. Seriously, what the hell are...
I have been on the lookout for a ITX board with TB3 as well. I'm pretty happy i didnt bet on Gigabyte activating TB through bios updates on the Z170N Gaming 5 with the Alpine Ridge controller as they will most likely have a new SKU like they did with GA-Z170X-UD5 / GA-Z170X-UD5 TH.
I'm putting...
