What causes tempered glass panel to explode?!

That's why some manufacturers don't put screws through tempered glass, or even use them to hold the panel down by some other mechanical means. Instead they use magnets, or glued on plastic clips, which pull the panel against the case instead of pressing it against the case.

What causes tempered glass panel to explode?!

A crack, chip or scratch, and uneven pressure (or extremely uneven heat) on the panel. For instance, if you had a screw point pressed against a panel, and you bumped it (creating a large uneven force), it would likely shatter. if there was a crack or scratch, and you had a screw a bit too...

    Output DTS to analogue speakers

Assuming you have the requisite audio ports, it should be easy -- your movie player (vlc, for example) and audio codec (realtek) should handle it. If you have only line-in/mic, line-out, and phones (three ports), you'll need to either get a sound card with the rear, center, front, and sub...

Corsair 5000D new build not turning on

It might just work, but if not you can usually hit f11 or something to select the boot device, or select it from the bios directly if you think you'll only need it once.

Corsair 5000D new build not turning on

Issue is the vidyo card checks for presence of all the pins (or at least the ground pins). If any aren't present, the card either boots in a low power state or doesn't boot at all.

    Monitor frequency

There are other things which might make 60hz (and other lower frequencies) more or less tolerable. Display technology, image processing/filters applied by the display itself, backlight brightness and dimming type, room lighting, your own eyes and brain, probably some other things as well. Edit...

big jump in price from 4k to 5k. why?

It's a 27% increase in pixels per inch (given the same phisical display size), and 66% increase in total pixels, regardless. It's a pretty huge jump, and they probably have a similar yield to what 4k displays had when they were new -- not very good, in other words. https://www.sven.de/dpi/

Can someone fluent in Linux help me with this?

Looks like there's a PKGBUILD on the aur, too, if you're on archlinux. There may be some issues with how it's set up, though, so might actually be easier to follow the projects own build instructions.

I have a coolermaster led 180mm that isn't terrible. Unfortunately, haven't owned any others so I don't know how it compares. You'd probably be good with most any other, as included case fans are frequently quite terrible even compared to the "same" fans sold separately.

(RUMOR) Konami is set to revive Metal Gear, Castlevania and Silent Hill

Silent Hill is more a Mystery Supernatural Thriller, whereas Resident Evil is a Puzzle SciFi Thriller. At least that's how they started. Dunno how much S.H. may have departed from that, but R.E. seems to have evolved quite a bit over the years.

Odd behavior in Windows 10 - mouse click stops responding

Depending on the photo editing app, that can use a lot of memory. Chrome with a bunch of tabs can as well. And I want to say chrome uses a lot of separate processes for tabs, but it might only have 8 or so loaded at a time, so that's probably not it. I think the best way to check is to open up...

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

It supports USB-FDD and USB-ZIP, so if I could get the drive to pretend it's a zip or floppy drive it would work...but that'd probably be a pita. I'll probably get an ide flash module eventually, yeah. Edit: Well, if this is accurate, I might be able to just reformat the drive in a way which...

Odd behavior in Windows 10 - mouse click stops responding

The double-clicking may be a hardware issue, but the unresponsive UI may be just that-- the interface hung because a system resource it needed was busy or all used up. Used to be more common when resources were more constrained-- just one or two cpu threads, <2GB RAM, small, slow HDDs, slow...

    Cheap no frills cell plan

Yeah, seems that way. With a voip service it works fine, though, even with reduced data speeds (although the codec gvoice uses seems to be a bit too phat, my other number on 1voip is smooth and clear most of the time). I had forgotten because google integration is pretty good at this point...

    Cheap no frills cell plan

No, it's a different plan. Was well hidden on their site back when I switched, can't even find it now, but you should be able to get it still. It's a "Simply Prepaid" unlimited plan. The base plan is $5 for 500MB high speed data, I got the $10 for 2GB plan.

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

I'm sure we all had a pretty good idea already, but to confirm: No video through the RCA jack, it absolutely needed that chip for both S-vid and Composite. VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

Would run it through the retrotink to my TV. Would be better than using the composite out, and more convenient than another converter box or a separate vga monitor. But I do have a vga monitor and the retrotink also accepts composite, so it's not a showstopper.

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

So it is through-hole, they're just all filled with solder (just confirmed). And it does have the Composite vid/audio output and undocumented jumper (presumably to choose between the two), so I wonder if the onboard video only supports composite or if they just removed S-Video to save money, or...

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

Hard Drives from Amazon and Warranty

    VIA EPIA 800 missing S-Video

Any chance I could put it back in? I imagine it'd need an IC or two, and some resistors/caps that were also left out, but I'm not certain on that. Will have pics later on. The S-Vid connector itself is under the parallel port, at least one through-hole (the others are either pads or filled...
