How often do you replace power supply?

Nope I run a sealed positive air pressure system with ultra fine mesh filters. Visually checked my psu and the internals still look shiny and new 9 years later. Plus look up the component data sheets for the capacitors, mosfets, etc. and you will see that their lifespan is inversely correlated...

4c/8t 6700k (stock) vs 6c/12t 3960x (4.7ghz oc) for my son in laws first PC. Need advise

GPU would be a gtx 960 so nothing powerful but in the future I will give him my 1080 once I upgrade when prices are sane.

4c/8t 6700k (stock) vs 6c/12t 3960x (4.7ghz oc) for my son in laws first PC. Need advise

Hi all, so my brother’s wife’s son is looking to build his first PC and they don’t have the funds to pay for it. I offered to use my old components just sitting in my closet. My question is which cpu would be better for his computer for modern games. A 4c/8t 6700k that will remain stock as it is...

Looking for feedback: 6900xt vs 3080

SAM/resize-BAR and gddr6x has nothing to do with having enough vram to store all the data needed to render frames without having to wait for main memory or page-file. If you had said today’s card have better delta compression then yes that helps, but no, what you said has nothing to do with...

Looking for feedback: 6900xt vs 3080

Even 12GB is low in today’s world. I mean it’s only 1 more GB than the 1080 Ti from 2016….if I were in the market today I wouldn’t get anything less than 16GB which means 6900xt or 3090. Anything else is mid tier class in 2 years or less

Use the Radeon anti-lag feature. That should help the frame time issue. Radeon anti-lag Adrenaline software description: “Dynamically adjusts frame timing to reduce the lag between user inputs and visual responses.”

Looking for feedback: 6900xt vs 3080

Oh sorry about that, I’m on a business trip so I’m away from my desktop and its been forever since I’ve been in the adrenaline settings. If I remember correctly it’s called “Radeon anti-lag” it basically forces the gpu to put out as many frames as possible while keeping output at the monitors...

Looking for feedback: 6900xt vs 3080

You do realize that there is a setting in the adrenaline drivers that fixes this. I have a 6900xt and I’ve never experienced what you are saying, mechwarrior online, Starcraft 2, war thunder, rising storm 2, etc all play flawlessly

    Which monitor manufacture is good?

Samsung and LG both make their own panels so they are a good company to start with. It’s not always the case (Samsung and lg do make affordable monitors), but most of the time Samsung and lg will keep the better panels in a production lot and sell the lesser production lot panels to more...

    AMD working their driver magic!

I get what you are saying but give AMD time. They are just now becoming a successful company with zen. For 6 years straight they have invested all their R&D money in Zen while riding out bulldozer as a last ditch effort to become relevant again so the Radeon department has been lacking in...

    AMD working their driver magic!

So when I first got my 6900xt back in February I couldn’t get above 10500 graphics score in timespy extreme with my max OC and pushing power target all the way to 450 watts but now in November I revisited 3dmark and got 10500 on stock settings and 11200 with max OC but only using 289 watts. I...

What Ryzen CPUs can this cool sufficiently?

Basically what kirbyrj is saying is that your cooler might be able to cool a 5900x or 5950x sufficiently in a cpu only load in a case with proper airflow while the video card is idling, however if your video card is stressing and is dumping hot air into your case then the ability of your cpu...

XFX Speedster Zero WB Radeon RX 6900 XT

I had a 2700x with my 6900xt and got >20,000 graphics score then upgraded to 5900x and maybe got 300 more graphics points. The CPU is not the problem.

    ASUS DARK HERO

If you look at all the ryzen performance in gaming benchmarks the 5900x barely inches past the 5950x in performance which is what they were asking about. But as games become more thread happy the 5950x will stay relevant longer.

    ASUS DARK HERO

It’s barely faster in games vs the 5950x but in the long term the 5950x will stay more relevant as more cores are utilized in games in the future.

    Virtual Super Resolution?

Yeah they cap it to 5880x2880 which I understand why, it’s their max resolution quoted in the hardware specs for their graphics cards, but they need to focus on making their graphics options at least on par with nvidia since they are trying to re-take ground in the graphics territory.
  21. D

    Virtual Super Resolution?

Yeah when I upgraded from a 1080 to a 6900xt I was let down by VSR. I was looking forward to playing older games at 6880x2880 but hit a hard limit at 5120x2880. AMD….let us have 4x resolution like nvidia gives us

    AIO and 5950x temps

Well apparently, according to Steve at Gamers Nexus, cold plate contact uniformity is actually atrocious for a lot of aio coolers out there. I bought his number 1 pick for aio cold plate uniformity, the ekwb aio’s. Nothing came close to having uniform mounting pressure on the different CPU’s he...

Anyone still running an X99 Broadwell-E system?

Bro I’m still running my 3960x on x79 and it’s still very relevant. Have had it overclocking for 8 years now at 4.9 ghz all core at 1.35V. This thing is a beast!

    AIO and 5950x temps

That sounds pretty high for idle, my 5900x runs at 32C at idle and 68C full load with PBO and CO. How’s your cold plate mounting pressure? And did you use the paste the cooler came with?

What's a good therman grease? Are thermal pads any good?

That’s interesting, I still have my original spread of kryonaut on my 2700x built in 2018 and my recorded temps have not gone up since. That makes it 3 years old at this point…I wonder if maybe you don’t have enough mounting force on your cpu. Maybe the tighter the gap the more friction there is...

What's a good therman grease? Are thermal pads any good?

My favorite thing to see when tech reviewers use the carbon pads is that they aren’t wearing gloves and putting their body oils all over the pad before slapping it down on the cpu. Gotta love YouTube hahaha

Just ordered a 5900x and Asus Dark Hero VIII x570s

Unfortunately my 5900x’s memory controller can’t do 1900 mclock but will do 1866 all day with 3733 ram at 14-14-14-28-cr1 and tight secondary and tertiary timings

EVGA to make a Dark line Motherboard for AMD

Where can I get a GPU Fan cable Y Splitter?

How often do you replace power supply?

My trick is to get a power supply that is 3 times my max power usage and put a dedicated fan on it to keep the components at ambient temps where the components are rated to last the longest. Had my 1200w Corsair unit since 2013 and still going strong. It’s an AXi unit so I can real time monitor...

    Procesor overheating, no cooling.

I agree with hititinquitit. A good way to know is first of all, feel the tubing coming out of the CPU block. Can you feel any vibration? If no then your pump is either immaculately built (congratulations!!!) or more likely your pump is dead. Another tell tale sign is feel both tubes coming from...

    Adventures in 2700X Overclocking

To be safe make your soc V stock and remove your mem overclock, then do curve optimizer. Also it’s probably your 2 best cores that aren’t stable with -3 offset, so do per core curve optimizer, set the 2 best cores to zero offset then the rest you can negative offset and probably get at least -10...

5900x / dark Hero / Idle temps issue and voltage when gaming

I would definitely look at your cpu cooler install as I have ek 240 aio with push pull but as exhaust so it’s sucking on warmer than ambient air instead of your ek 360 in taking cooler ambient air. I used a screw driver and made sure the mounting screws for the cold plate were as tight as...

5900x / dark Hero / Idle temps issue and voltage when gaming

Nothing pops out at me for being something that causes high idle temps, perhaps turning vrm spread spectrum and active frequency mode back to auto and using the normal balanced windows power profile (not the ryzen balanced profile) and see if that works. If not I’d check your cpu cold plate...
