Thank you! haha Backplate made ZERO difference. It's the shroud that's actually the problem. Backplate fits fine. It's the XC3 Ultra. I assume the black will fit the same as all the others. The shroud barely fits and so the fans are right up against the side panel.
Thanks man. Total chance of the draw. I struck out at microcenter, newegg, and almost gave up on EVGA.com. It randomly loaded for me :/ It looks like it has shipped and will be here Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have some good news for DAN users.
So I actually bought it for a friend whom was not going to be able to be online to buy. He said if I end up with one to use it til my til my 3090 shows up. -- I'm actually gunning for a 3090. He agreed to let me test it on my dan case though.
This is my struggle exactly. I was able to sell off my 2080 TI about 3 weeks ago for $1100 and have been using a 1070 in the time being. So realistically it's only an additional $500~ investment (+/- with tax). The only solace I would have is that I can ignore all other video card releases til...
It seems to be somewhere between a VA/TN
Yep it can be bus powered (by laptop or desktop)
Brightness is good, I don't have a way to measure the nits though :/
Yep! two VESA 100 holes I believe
Not sure, what's the best way to test?
Hey everyone! I'm just going to preface this. I've been dying for a more portable gaming monitor to take to LAN parties, big events (Quakecon, DreamHack etc), and a second monitor to use while I'm traveling. I've found that it's pretty common for Chinese manufacturers to take excess laptop...
I know this is a long shot guys, (reviving an old thread) --
The backplane has standard molex + sata power -- which ones do I need to use to make sure the drives are power properly? Do I need to use both? I've got 1 SSD and 2 3.5 inch 3TB drives.
Forgot to post these here for you guys, got mine from Aerocool on eBay:

I've got to get my hands on a 970 or a 980 -- going to wait a bit for prices to come down.
Thanks! Yeah it's be solid so far, but to be honest I'm still just getting all of my data loaded to it.
I'm still trying to find a 970 or a 980 for a decent price.

This from an AW/Dell Employee on my thread on Reddit:
"So to address why we had to go proprietary; we needed the bandwidth. Each channel on at PCI lane needs ~10Gbits of bandwidth. Because we support PCI x4...
Hey everyone, some of you may or may not be interested but I received my external GPU exclosure for my yet-to-be-delivered Alienware 13. I've always been a huge fan of the DIY eGPU solutions out there and it sucks this is proprietary. (Intel slammed the door on Thunderbolt eGPUs).
