Worst Game Ever?

These four piles of doo doo:

William Shatner's Tekwar, The Fortress Of Dr. Radiaki, Isle Of The Dead, and Nerves Of Steel.

Most of the other answers in the thread are a joke to me, and I really don't care what anyone else says about it

I'd have to say the most disappointing game I ever played was dues ex invisible war which was an absolute t*** compared to the 1st one. I disliked it so much that I took note of who developed it and that was Harvey Smith so I have never wanted to play any of his games after that which includes Dishonored. ( I did give dishonored a try and thought it was absolutely overhyped and totally mediocre)

The funniest worst game I ever played was one called boiling point which was like a very Bobo brand far cry style open world game in the early 2000s. It was so incredibly buggy there was a soccer ball that was square.

No such thing you can say one game is bad then there will always be something worse.
Like comparing Pong to Forspoken.

Rebel Assault 2 is the only game that I don't have any misplaced nostalgia towards.
Wait something is coming is coming to me. Those shitty Tiger Electronics hand-held versions of good game properties.

I've played a few stinkers, but I never play them long enough to really have them imprint on me well enough to be remembered.
So I will go with great games that pulled the rug out from under me at some point and ruined it.
"FarCry when the trigens appeared."
"Brutal Legends when it became an RTS."

Forespoken
I hear that's a big pile of shit but did you actually play it? I haven't, so I can't say if its terrible one way or another. BTW, reviews aren't encouraging for it. I am aware of the game's reputation.

The worst game I have played was Tonic Trouble on the N64, which I had the misfortune of owning. I really go out of my way to avoid playing bad games and so I don't have a long list and not all of these games are objectively bad, just significantly worse than the reviews led me to believe or failed to capture my interest.

poor quality games:
- Tonic Trouble (N64, I owned this game as a kid, one of the worst purchases I ever made)
- Rugrats: Scavenger Hunt (N64, I rented this game one time as a kid in 1999, I don't know why because I knew it was bad beforehand, the Mario Party boardgame style of gameplay and Rugrats characters must have just been appealing to me at that age)
- Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Wii Virtual Console, I bought and played all chapters of this game. Not quite what I would call absolute trash, but it was definitely a poor effort by Square Enix and the last chapter caused me to rage quit due to what I consider poor game design, replayed the last chapter a year later and beat it).
- Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure (Game Boy Advance, I bought this game over the summer in 2002 on the recommendation of positive reviews that I read. It wasn't objectively a bad game and the first few levels had some cool 3D level design, but after that it got really repetitive and monotonous and really was a bland platformer that deserved maybe a 5 or 6 / 10, reviews giving it 8+ really did a disservice to gamers and were probably from people who only played the game for like 20 minutes).
- World Driver Championship (N64, and was a game that I bought. Again not an objectively bad game and it did have really nice graphics for a game with no Expansion Pak, but Nintendo Power gave this game basically a 9/10, when it might have deserved a 6/10. It was an extremely frustrating game due to poor physics, controls, unfair AI, and exceptionally high difficulty)
- Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GCN, Owned. Not a horrible game, maybe 7/10, but the reviews telling us that this game was anywhere close to Metroid Prime 1 with scores at or near 10/10 are completely inaccurate and so this is on my list. The dark world is literally 50% of this game and it is extremely monotonous. Also of the three main levels, non-dark world components, the first two environments felt like they were not only done in the first game, but were done much better. Only the third level was cool and different).
- Pokemon Snap (N64, owned. It wasn't horrible, but I played it through and completely forgot about it. This game along with Tonic Trouble are the only two games that I have ever sold and never had any desire to re-purchase later on down the road).
- Almost every sports game that I have ever played (not necessarily bad games, I just couldn't care less about sports games with the one exception being Mario Golf on the N64 which was absolute gold).

I played the demo. It was terrible.

I would argue Duke Nukem Forever was utter garbage as well. However, I did finish it and thought it was OK. Who doesn't like throwing turds and making the same quip for 5 hours straight?

It certainly didn't live up to the hype. I didn't think it was a bad game, but it was dated when it launched in a lot of ways. Even so, I enjoyed it well enough. Unlike Duke Nukem 3D however, I didn't find any replay value in it. In other words, it was a solid bargain basement title but it definitely wasn't AAA standards when it was new.

I had more fun following the development of that game over the years then I ever did playing it.

oh, how about Spore? That game was hyped to be the most evoluntionary game ever, and all you were doing was just rolling dice basically only in a GUI form

Well we are at it, No Mans Sky had shitloads of hype too.

I can't really think of a worst game, so I'll just list the games I found the most underwhelming.

Diablo 3 in its first year fell pretty flat for me (not sure how it is now, I have heard it's changed a lot).

The first two Tomb Raider games in the franchise were solid, but none of the other games really hit the mark for me. It might be an unpopular opinion, but the rest of the games felt more like cash cows to me. They had some high points here and there, but I don't really care about the franchise or where they take it anymore to be honest. There is something special about those first two games that just hasn't been matched. I can still play and watch speed runs and challenge runs of those and be entertained.

Duke Nukem Forever MP was Kick Ass had 400 hours most played if any game on Steam I own. Basically a Gearbox MP Deathmatch game nobody cheated either until like two years later in.

I actually somewhat enjoyed the MP too. It had a lot of cool things in it so I played for a while, but there were some pretty annoying bugs and not a ton of people playing. It had real potential but was just unfinished, which is the story of the entire game. But I knew it would be like that when I bought it for like $5. And if you didn't know that when you bought it you were an idiot.

No hate for Diakatana?

Lol just read the first page, gets brought up multiple times
IMO Daikatana was a big let down but wasn't necessarily the worst game ever. I rented it for the N64 as a lad and I remember nearly beating it and playing the splitscreen a bunch.

Worst game I ever played that comes to mind right now was The Quarry. I didn't buy it but played the demo. I couldn't even make it through that. The brutally annoying characters and stupid plot felt like splinters in my mind. A total test of my patience, unlike the enjoyable movie-game Heavy Rain.

I may get slammed for this, but looking back over my game catalog, I would say that my worst game is one of the Unchartedes. I'm sure it's great on console, but I came into it years later and I expected all bugs too be patched on PC.

Nope. This game hada bug so bad, when the fucking game starts, you can't even control your character, you can't open your parachute, and you go straight into ground. After dieing a dozen or 2 times, I uninstalled it

Has anyone mentioned that gear Box aliens game? I didn't play it and as a rule I won't play Anything by that company but I heard it was really wretched
I mentioned it, but I was told that since I put a few hours into playing it that it can't be the worst game I've ever played. Gearbox Software is infamous for its owner Randy Pitchford. He has a history of being a sexual deviant and won't let his greasy fingers let go of the Duke Nukem IP.

As far as games go they have put out a few good ones. Brothers in Arms and the first two Borderlands are good. They also made the PC version of the first Halo. They got their start by making official premium mods for Half-Life like Opposing Force and Blue Shift.

agree with you on the quarry because same.

Back when I had lots of time, I didn't have much money. Now that I have some disposable income, I don't have much time. Since I got into gaming, I've kept an eye on reviews and been very selective. i haven't played many bad games.

I have played a couple of the worst, though. I had ET and didn't love it, but I was young enough that it didn't hit me exactly how bad it was. I got Enter the Matrix as a gift, and was really excited. My hopes were soon crushed. That one is the worst for me.

Enter The Matrix was so bad that it was good (for me). The fact the movie was so tied into it made it even funnier.

I recently tried to play Legendary again, give it the benefit of the doubt, I just can't, it's my pick for the worst game.

What game could live up to the hype with how long that thing was in development? Would have been a virtual impossibility. Even the supposed finished product smacked of a game that had a bunch of barely finished levels that they just stitched together so they could kick it out the door.

I know modders are working on the 2001 version that was leaked last year to get it more playable, might be a better experience overall.
