RTX 3060 12GB

You won't have to. Sign up for EVGA's waiting list and when it's your turn, you'll be able to buy a card at MSRP.
Lolol joke of the century.....I have sign-ups from 9/21 for two 3080 skus that are still not current, I got one 3070 from that list (and stupidly canceled the others) because I got it on the first minute of the list opening. You will never get a card through the queue for any existing SKU if you sign up today, and by never I mean atleast 12 months...

Only applies to people who were already queued. If you queue up now you get the new price.
It's also worth mentioning they haven't even cleared September 18th yet for the 3080 FTW3, and that's the main card -- basically the ONLY card -- they've been shipping.

I couldn't understand what you meant, then checked the 3060 Ti... holy f*ck. Went from $409 to 459 (*screams in terror*). Maybe I should've just got into that list last week...

Well, the 3060 at least has been mentioned at MSRP of $329 today, after all the tariffs went into effect, so I'm ***hoping*** this will be the actual price? If not, you are %100 right - no card for me, because I flat out refuse to pay a single cent over MSRP.

Fingers, arms, legs... crossed.

If I have to miss the Ampere generation, even though I'm way overdue a GPU upgrade, I will. Playing Gears 5 at 1080p with everything on high (except World textures at medium) at 60fps and happy as can be. 90fps would be better, but for a 1060 3GB, I'm not complaining. Other people have been caught in this situation holding off with much worse hardware (like 900 series or lower)... now that is what I consider being screwed for the time being.

OK. So I signed up for the original version of the 3060, but now I'm thinking I might want the new 12 GB version. So I tried to sign up for this version under My Notifies, but I couldn't see any buttons or menus to do the signup. Does that mean you are allowed to do just one signup at a time?

AFAIK there’s only a limit of one per SKU. There’s no list available for the 3060 because they just announced it today, availability in late February. I’m guessing the orders page will show up in a few weeks.

so is the 3060 Ti supposed to be the better card?...it seems the cheaper 3060 12GB might be better overall with less power consumption, more VRAM etc

That's kind of old news now, or did people already miss that information when Asus made the change?
As for the rest of the discussion, we're not in GenMay so I'll leave it at that.

My brother has been waiting on a 1660 he ordered over a month ago - still hasn't shipped lmao. At least they only put a temporary CC hold (which obviously went away) and didn't actually charge him for it yet.

Cause it has most memory. You know moar memory=moar performance.

it's weird because Nvidia is releasing a higher VRAM lower end card before higher VRAM high end ones (not counting the 3090)...so many of these new Ampere cards seem redundant- I would take buy a 3060Ti over a 3070...and a 3080 over a 3090...3080Ti just adds more models and redundancy and will make early adopters pissed off

This is inaccurate. The 3060 will be slower than the 3060 Ti. More memory only equals more performance if you don't have the capacity you need to use and are running out of VRAM.

I think Nvidia underestimated what AMD would come up with. They cheaped out on VRAM initially, but at this point they must have realized a 6GB mid-tier card would not even last 2 years with decent performance, and because of the 192 bit bus, their only other option was 12GB. This would have not been an issue had they not cheaped out on the 3070, 3080, 3090, but they did. Now they're on this weird spec situation until they refresh the whole lineup. One thing is clear - had AMD released worse performing cards, making the prospects of 6700 weaker, you'd have a 6GB card now, for sure.

Nvidia/AMD has been following this pattern for awhile now...Nvidia is banking on RTX/DLSS as the main selling point while AMD cards usually age better because of their higher VRAM

No shit. But a lot of people are ignorant and believe it.

Oh. I thought you were being serious 😂

OK, but I didn't see the ability to sign up for a different 3060 SKU or any 3070 or 3080 SKUs. Not that I need either of those.

Perhaps an admission that 3060 stock next month is going to be a joke, as stock has been since September?

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-to-reintroduce-geforce-rtx-2060-and-rtx-2060-super-to-the-market

That said, a 2060 for 300 EUR and 2060 S for 400 EUR... Nvidia has officially lost is mind, hasn't it? A $200 2060 would actually be interesting (if they don't just rename it to a 3050), or a $250 2060 S (or renamed to 3050 Ti). But basically the same price for a 3060 for less performance? Or, much worse, paying $70 more for less performance?

The source is Overclocking.com, reported by Videocardz, so these are credible places. It just seems insanely stupid, so either a) we can't believe this at all or b) Nvidia really has lost its mind.

if Nvidia wants to re-introduce older cards back in the market then do it with the 2070 Super or 2080 Ti

This is now being picked up by even more reputable mainstream sites:

https://www.techspot.com/news/88354-nvidia-rumored-re-launching-rtx-2060-rtx-2060.html

Some good points about this and the overall market also made here:

https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/...vidia-might-re-launch-rtx-2060-rtx-2060-super

Weird as it seems, it actually makes some sense: re-release some 12nm cards in the market segment you’re currently missing since 7nm is completely paralyzed with demand, making 3000 series basically impossible to buy. If they expect this situation to last until May, it’s not the worst idea to make use of available 12nm production capacity and sell to 1060 upgraders like myself. However, it makes no sense at the rumored prices that basically match or exceed the 3060/Ti. That said, a 2060 for $200 or a 2060S for $250? Count me in, especially if it means I don’t have to wait until May or longer for a 3060.

I was still considering buying an RX 6700 whenever it came out, but this pretty much just made up my mind that my next card will be from Nvidia:

https://www.pcmag.com/news/nvidia-opens-the-door-for-more-pc-games-to-use-frame-rate-boosting-dlss

Any game made in UE4 (and by extension, you can assume the same for UE5) will now support the DLSS in-engine as a plugin, internally, without Nvidia having to do much about it. When technologies get adopted in-engine, that's when they explode, and the majority of games these days are made with UE4. I'd venture a guess that any dev that wants to take a bit of time, can probably add DLSS to their UE4 game without too much effort, now that it's integrated as a plugin.

AMD better come out with their super resolution fast, and with a ton of support, if they want to have a chance at fighting. Because it's software support news like this that keep me buying Nvidia, as much as I've grown to dislike them as a company because of their crappy business practices.

Still waiting to snatch a 3060 Ti for MSRP on Best Buy, but the second 3060 12GB auto-notify is green lit by EVGA, if they sell it at MSRP, I'm signing up for one. Even if it's unlikely, you'd think if you sign up within the first couple hours, you'd have a pretty good chance at snatching one relatively soon after launch. I keep refreshing their 3060 12GB page several times per day...

On EVGA's store, their price increases across the board are 10-15% depending on model (cheaper cards = higher increase), which means the 3060 will most likely be 15%, starting at $379.99.

Additionally, EVGA is fucking people over this time: The 3060 Ti XC (dual fan) SFF model was MSRP before the price increase ($399.99) however EVGA is offering two XC SFF models for the 3060, one with the backplate (XC) and another without (XC Black). This means the XC Black would've been the MSRP model ($329.99) and they will charge more than MSRP for the same XC model as the 3060 Ti.

Also, assuming they follow the same trend as previous cards, they won't actually make any XC Blacks. Which means the only one you can get is the regular XC, which will probably be +$10 or +$20 ($340 // $350 MSRP) before the price hike.

Long story short, the 3060 from EVGA's store will be $390 or $400 before tax, in other words: The same price as the 3060 Ti FE @ Best Buy... Oof.

And to top it all off, Nvidia's own benchmarks show the 3060 in 2060S/2070 performance territory which means it's a WORSE VALUE card than the 3060 Ti, even at MSRP: The 3060 Ti offers more performance-per-dollar. With the price hikes (vs 3060 Ti FE) it's so much worse. You will end up paying $400+ for the 3060, despite it being around 30%-40% slower than the 3060 Ti.

It's a bizarre card, with bizarre pricing since there is no FE model. By far the most disappointing GPU in the entire 30 series, even more disappointing than the 20 series cards (RTX 2060)... Assuming Nvidia's benchmarks are accurate.

About the queue: I saw a post on Reddit that their 3060 Ti FTW3 queue has only cleared about 2 hours, and it's been 2.5 months since launch lol. Which means they are doing 2 minutes of queue per day.

If that ends up being true, then I'll just keep trying the 3060 Ti on Best Buy. I'm not paying a single cent over MSRP, I'll wait until the 4000 series if I have to - I can still play fine at 1080p, and if not I'll happily go down to 720p for a few months.

As for value, you're absolutely right - the 3060 is expected to have %25 less performance than the Ti for %20 less money, which is stupid - it should be the other way around, a bigger discount, not perf drop. Then again, I just don't want to spend $400 if I can avoid it, but it seems increasingly likely that I won't really be able to avoid spending that money. Keep refreshing BB, I guess. The most annoying part is that BB gives me a $40 discount for my birthday this month, which will expire on the 28th, and it's pretty much guaranteed I'm not going to manage to buy a card from them before that date... if things were at MSRP and available, I'd be buying a Ti for close to the price of a 3060...

What TaintedSquirrel said.

Since I signed up on Dec. 10, and they are still doing Dec. 1 for the 3060 Ti, I guess I will get my chance to buy around around the year 2040. This would be funny, but it's not.

Good to know, that's 11AM central for me. I hope they give us information on models and prices before that. If EVGA releases a model at $329, I'll definitely get on that queue. If they don't and release a stupidly priced product... well, might as well wait for AMD's 6700 series and see what that tier's like. No rush, at that point. It'll be hard to go for an AMD GPU if Super Resolution isn't out, though... I purchase what the card offers, not what it promises to offer at a certain point in the future.

Well that's not MSRP. It's what AIBs might try to charge you, stupidly. They are not the ones who S(uggested) the RP. That's Nvidia.

I'm finding it a bit strange that EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac... no one has announced their pricing yet, not a single one of them. Yeah, cards go on sale on the 25th, but don't we usually know the expected price a few days beforehand? It seems like they're trying to limit the bad press they're likely going to get. Not that it'll help, they'll get criticized - as well they should - the second cards go on sale over MSRP - not talking the outrageous scalper prices, but what AIBs would charge you on their website.

NVIDIA suggest MSRP of non Nvidia founder edition card ?

isn't asus that set the MSRP of ASUS cards ? Nvidia can tell people that will not do future business if they do not have MSRP under an umbrella I think and indirectly create fork like that if they are willing to lose partner, but that different than setting their MSRP for them, that is just a guest on my part, but I feel the manfacturer in the MSRP sentence of Asus video card is asus, Msi cards is MSI and so on and not Nvidia or AMD.

Do you see an FE card made by Nvidia anywhere here?

1614142703358.png

It's also why you're getting a 3060 with less cores than initially expected, because when Nvidia told AIBs how much they should charge for the cards, they said they couldn't make it work, so they found middle ground. AIBs have wiggle room, but Nvidia dictates the price range.

Of course AIBs are probably not bound by this. But as with any business relation, abuse that trust and relations strain. I'm sure Nvidia is starting to get tired that a $399 60 Ti is being sold for $560, or whatever other price hikes are happening in the lineup. Customers are pretty livid at this point, but Nvidia isn't making a single cent more in exchange for all this anger.

I do not see any card anywhere to be honest, trying to buy since october in canada.

Not sure how that do not make Asus the MSRP in MSRP of Asus cards.

Wow this is spectacularly underwhelming.

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-3dmark-and-superposition-performance-leaked

If the 3060 really ends up being not even better than a 2060s then I can only consider getting the 60 ti or see what AMD offers. Perhaps this is not surprising, as Nvidia went with the low cuda core count GA106-400 expected to be a 3060 6gb (see OP). This would've been a sub $300 card, but with the extra ram price went up.

The more information we have about this, the more disappointing this launch is becoming. I don't think I'd want this card at all, barely any performance uplift for $20 less (at MSRP which we likely won't pay for a while anyway). I guess %11 uplift for ~%10 less money than a 2060 is still a net positive but yo, it's been 2 years. This is nowhere enough a generational tier improvement in my book.

No thanks. I'm not that desperate for a new GPU. And you said it was safe for us Pascal owners to upgrade, Jensen. Doesn't seem to be the case.
