Just reporting back that since the PSU switch over have not had any issues :). Matter of fact I think my system as a whole is more stable, not experiencing the sometimes rare random issues I used to.
Thanks again for all the suggestions. Gonna...
I've been pretty with TeamGroup and Sabrent drives, although I haven't really exercised them much...they haven't just died for no reason either.
I don't think I've purchased any from newegg though. If I did, it'd be either sold by newegg or...
Browse to storage, click view all, then add &outlet=1 to the url. From there you can drill down in the filters/categories or just go through the pages, there aren't too many.
I was just reading this. This is fun right here. I am all for it.
Fun tech things for the sake of them being fun and perhaps one day useful is always awesome!
But did anybody else do a double-take and think there was an extra R in their name?
I...
Because the point isn't to build something blindingly fast or even necessarily useful to the masses.
Some people just want to build cool shit. And this firmly falls into the category of cool shit.
True, but it's running on a xilinx prototype board. Scaling to larger purpose built (ie not fpga) chips would allow better performance, although how much would depend on the architecture, and what is limiting it (bandwidth, memory speed, etc).
So... I am please and also confused. I have solved the issue, today. But I already had eliminated this as a possibility last week..
TL : DC (is that a thing because it is now?) ... another device was getting usb power from my powered hub...
Think I saw that a while back, was very early days then. Might've been another project though.

I found this incredibly interesting, I know there's a few other open source ones I see bouncing around in Phoronix forums, but this seems to be the furthest I've seen one.

Lets remember: Sony started charging a subscription to play online because Microsoft did it and got away with it. I remember playing FPS games online on my PS3, and there was no cost involved at all.
By removing the cost barrier regarding an...
I would move the couch, or maybe rotate it. No reason it can't face the window or the wall. Then you can put a console behind the couch for drinks or whatever, and a shelf/stand for a TV against the wall if there is an outlet there.
I wasn't arguing for or against using it, just stating facts. You're unlikely to do much more wear than the average user by hibernating instead, but if your disk is failing it likely won't work well. Sleep won't hurt anything, but you'll want a...
What if you take a full screen snapshot when FF is making the noise, then shutdown FF and just view the screenshot full screen. Do you still hear the noise?
If the answer is yes, then it's the pixel colors/dithering/patterns that FF displays...
And fwiw, I think I do remember some psu company announcing a change in cables for a run of units maybe a year or so ago. Being that this is the first we hear of something this bad happening, I do believe that they did have proceedures in place...
Well they say they had a proceedure in place, it should have been escalated to management but wasn't. Would've been easy enough to prove in court, but thankfully didn't have to go that far.
imo it's just a case of gross mis-management brought...

First section of the vid. Change was due to a safety related regulation. The pinout didn't need to be changed, but someone at the factory gave it the go-ahead, and nobody caught it. 🤷♂️
That'd...
