Thanks for the reply - do you know what eco mode is doing, other than just reducing PPT/TDC/EDC?
Because it seems to be doing something else to reduce idle at the wall power somehow.
I don't really understand how eco mode reduces my at-the-wall power from 78W to 48W at idle, when at idle the processor is using far less than the limits of eco mode anyway?
I tried eco mode and found my single-core boost improved to a rock-solid 4950MHz, but understandably dropped all-core...
I just tried this - I removed the bifurcator, turned the BIOS back to x16, and the AER error disappear (even though AER is still enabled).
When I try x8x8 and just have one GPU (no nvme drive or second GPU), the AER errors return. And not just a few - the logs are completely full of them.
Thanks inf3rno - what I'm not clear on is if AER is uncovering, or causing issues? I mean, I have the problem before enabling AER, so wondering if this is explaining it?
C_Payne - I'm trying your bifurcator for the first time in a new way - passing through two different GPUs, to two different VMs, at the same time (whereas previously the guest had one, and the host had one).
What's really peculiar is that I can passthrough both GPUs to a *one* VM fine. But if I...
You're right, sorry not sure why I put the 'S' in the wrong place.
So you're saying the R83SR, presumably because it can be folded over to get the right spacing, while then putting the slot in the right orientation?
C_Payne Can I get your recommendation on what riser to use with your x8x4x4 in the nCase M1 please?
You mention "R83SR" on your site, but I can't find one on their page: http://www.adt.link/x16.html
There seems to be two possibilities on http://www.adt.link/product/R83.html
RS83R - I think...
Is anyone using @C_Payne’s ncase m1 bifurcator with a low-profile GPU? I’ve searched through the forums and most seem to want other cards like sound cards or 10G networking.
I just wanted to call out publicly how impressed I’ve been with your help, and excellent service with sending a replacement riser, even when it turned the problem was actually with my motherboard.
Thanks C_Payne - I had to change ACS from 'auto' to 'enabled'. In separate groups now.
IOMMU Group 28:
0a:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Ellesmere [Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X/590] [1002:67df] (rev e7)
0a:00.1 Audio device...
So I've finally got bifurcation working thanks to C_Payne
However, now I've hit another issue - the plan all along was to passthrough the second GPU to a VM, but it turns out that both GPUs now appear in the same IOMMU group!
Does anyone know then if this fundamentally won't work?
IOMMU Group...
I don’t think it’s just no output in the BIOS, as it doesn’t proceed to boot either.
Will try as you say though. The splitter may arrive today so can hopefully try this out.
EDIT - Package status only just says 'leaving Germany' as of this morning. so I guess not.
C_Payne - will the splitter work with one GPU that only has a x4 connection?
I bought a GT 1030 and when BIOS is in default 1x16 mode, it only negotiates at x4.
I subsequently read up on this, and it's just how that model is designed (and looking at the board in hand, you can see only the...
I've gone ahead and ordered this one from your shop, as hoping it'll be more flexible for future projects. Do you happen to recommend a supplier for 5cm risers? If not I'll have to find on on eBay I guess.
I love the idea of custom, but image that's a lot of work and cost of producing a one-off.
