I did check the direct to disk box but will certainly take a look at the link you attached. I've gathered a lot of good info from IPCamTalk so far. This dudes videos on Blue Iris have been pretty helpful as well.
Well after some additional research it appears that Intel is the way to go, primarily for Quick Sync. A i7-9700K and MSI Z390-A Pro board are about $420 so not terribly more than I was considering spending on a possible 5600X.
$300 ish, I'm toying with trying to get a 5600X but am afraid I'd be waiting another 5 months, lol. I am willing to go over $300 though I guess as I'm really not sure what price range I should be looking at.
I ordered a 3300X over 5 months ago and am giving up. I've got a B450 Tomahawk Max, 16GB 3600 ram, GT710 and 500GB 970 evo all unopened waiting for a cpu. I've currently got a i3-2105 that desperately needs to be replaced. I upgraded the case, psu and storage drives (4) 8tb Ironwolfs last year...
My first purchased CPU for a custom build was an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ that had great reviews from HardOCP. The next AMD chip I bought was the Athlon 64 X2-4200, also a well reviewed CPU from HardOCP. Every CPU that I have bought, minus the 3900X, was purchased after looking at HardOCP's reviews...
Your statement appears to be true :p. Approaching 5 months since I placed my 3300X order... At this point I'm considering cancelling and trying for a Zen3 chip, now that B450 boards will work with them.
Evga has been my go to gpu brand for a number of years now. That being said I'm not a big fan of the looks of the coolers on the ftw3 cards, the offset middle fan messes with me.
I've got the 3300X on order for a file/media server so no real heavy lifting. I wouldn't mind not having to worry about a gpu. I did pick up a GT 710 so it doesn't really matter at this point I guess.
Sorry man, I was hoping it'd work as well. With the (2) 8pin cables attached to the card (not using the Powerlink) I could close the side panel and honestly it'd probably be fine but I didn't want to want to put any stress on the slot if I didn't absolutely have to.
