GIGABYTE AORUS FV43U 43 inch 4k 144 HDR1000 QLED monitor

Excellent question. I have by no means a home theater expert. I honestly know nothing about what goes into mounting tons of TVs throughout your house. I could tell you how I have done it though. We have five TVs in our house one in the main living room one in the den and one in each one of the three bedrooms. Three of them are hardwired from the basement where the main electrical control box for the AT&t fiber is, and the other two all over Wi-Fi with the Wi-Fi modem centralized in the middle of the house. I have entertained the idea of mounting a TV in the backyard, but honestly I just don't want to deal with weatherproofing it and dealing with mounting it in the first place even though there is a very nice gazebo area in the backyard problem with that one is not sure if I would have good enough Wi-Fi connection all the way to the backyard and I definitely don't want to deal with hard wiring all the way back there and I also don't want to buy a new Wi-Fi modem LOL. Sometimes I just go with if it ain't broke don't fix it type of deal plus I would have to furnish or deal with making it comfortable enough back there for us all to actually sit down and watch TV outside another huge undertaking with setup and furniture and cost and labor time and energy that I just do not actually want to deal with another end result would be very nice. I think some TVs in the bathroom would be rather easy mama just get a tiny little TV with a remote I'll get up to Wi-Fi on DirecTV just need one power cord if you want to get fancy go through the drywall which again I don't want to deal with either doing it yourself or having electrician hook it up. So yeah I guess to answer your question it depends on how the house was built for me having it centralized in the basement allows me to draw hardwire in any direction and then punch a simple Grom at home through floor open to the room I want to hardwire. My name PC room has a qn90b, my main living room has a qn90a, both of these displays are leaps and bounds ahead of any of the other older Samsung TVs we have. There is a massive and I mean massive noticeable difference in the black levels color vibrancy brightness everything.

I wasn't wondering how, I was wondering why.

If you have cameras on your house, having a display in several rooms just to show the array of camera feeds could be nice. Then if you wanted another tv/screen for entertainment, media, that would be another in some rooms so that'd be 2 in some rooms just for that. I have a laptop and a tablet though so I can have screens for work or enterntainment even if I'm at the kitchen table with no other mounted screens anywhere.

Hallways, (at least corridors rather than seating areas, nor sure what you meant) and bathrooms is a bit much. However if you find yourself using your phone on the toilet you are probably exposing it to some micro particles on occasion so a shielded screen in some scenarios might actually make sense. Idk how you'd navigate it though if it was covered lol. I've seen some in restaurant/bar bathrooms on a constant shared feed so that people don't miss parts of a sports game so maybe that kind of live action zealotry comes into play with some people.

I didn't see any cameras or anywhere in his house where a camera feed was hooked up so I'm guessing it was an obsession with a sports game or something. Yes a hallway only for walking from room to room like a corridor. Those ones were the weirdest to me. Like he couldn't walk 5 seconds down the hallway without missing his show? And yeah he had TVs on both ends of the hallway so he could see them walking to the bedrooms from the living room or from the bedrooms to the living room.

Dated 12/12/22 so it’s probably new? Who knows. They don’t post any update notes so grab it while you can.

Win11 now officially supports HDR10+ so I sent support an email asking if they could add it in a firmware update- support replied it’s a HDR1000 display and doesn’t support HDR10. I tried to explain the differences between “HDR1000” and HDR10 but the CSR was having none of it.

the new driver has version 1.0.1 or 1.0.0.1 old one was 1.0.0

I also wrote to support to tell me if there is a changelog for latest F07 Update.
Still waiting for answer.
I am using the HDR Game profile, HDR1000 looks way too grey for me and you cant change in that profile anything.
Further much games that have HDR support only working when you activate HDR first in windows but this lead to bad HDR inplemention thats a windows problem

Anyone has the same Problem? All games think that 4k 60hz is the native resolution.
With CRU i cant change native Refresh rate over 59.998hz.
In Forum of CRU it says to add some Detailed Display ID resolution, but also no luck.
Further i have the problem that normally in game under refresh rate it shows 30/60/120/144 but now its not sorted anymore 🤣 it says 30/120/60/144. Not that problem but also maybe a driver bug. Using latest driver 527.56

Clean out your GPU drivers with DDU then reinstall?

did that, also removed the Monitor driver from windows and also registry folders that content to every monitor that was connected since windows installed.
for AC Valhalla i can check what the game choose for native refresh rate.
No Problems to select 120 or 144 but its a bug

I haven't noticed it, I need to check- you should report it to tech support.

Does this monitor have a sleep mode? I can't figure out how to get it to turn on.

Nothing to figure out it should go to sleep automatically if you have it setup in windows to turn off monitor after x number of inactivity minutes. Or if it senses no input.

In my windows 11 says "HDR certification VESA DisplayHDR 400(1.1)"
From what I read HDR 10 just means it covers the low be that 400 up to 1000. So Aorus FV43U seems to only be HDR400

for me it says HDR1000 and 1031Nits.
I remember one day where it says 400 and thought that it was a bug.
Maybe try the new driver from their homepage?

https://displayhdr.org/

Definitely a 1000nit display. HDR10 and HDR10+ are a media profile. There’s a table in that page that describes the various DisplayHDR names.

The FV43U could probably support HDR10+ if Gigabyte chose to update it. It already supports HDR10.

Maybe this was the bug. Well didn't they take that driver down not to long ago? Yeah I agree it says 1000

After Weeks of asking the Gigabyte Support, they finally had an answer :

After confirmation, the changelog of F07 firmware as below:

1. Fixed the issues when switch to 4K 144hz timing.

2. Change Picture mode option "VS mode" to "Arcade".

Makes me laugh that the changes in this firmware are often so thin that renaming a menu entry is worthy of mention.

Hmm. I'm on F07 and my picture mode still says "VS" as opposed to "Arcade".

I upgraded to this monitor after a couple years on a 43" entry level Samsung 4k tv. This thing is leaps and bounds better visually than that tv in every way. First thing I did was update to the latest firmware, which was super easy to do, but took a surprisingly long time to complete. I turned down the color saturation just a couple notches, it was a little much out of the box for me. I went into the NVIDIA driver and enabled the gsync in the nvidia control panel and motion is butter smooth. The color accuracy is so much better than my old Samsung, and I was really missing the high refresh being stuck in 60hz land.

I'm sure there are better monitors out there, but for the price I am very satisfied with this monitor so far. I have bias lighting behind the monitor and it shuts off when the monitor does, my samsung didn't always do this. I'm happy with everything except maybe the built in speakers. They sound slightly hollow and worse than the speakers in the samsung tv, but not by much. I just moved so I haven't had the time to hook my bookshelf speakers and subwoofer back up yet. This size of this unit sealed the deal for me, when I first got the 43" it took a while to get used to it, and I knew when I started looking I didn't want to go any bigger, but I didn't want to go much smaller either. Ultrawide isn't a form factor that I want to use when I'm working remotely, so those were out of the running. This monitor checked a lot of boxes for me.

i just changed the included DP Cable to a new "16k DP2.0" cable and now i dont have that much ghosting anymore.
It was really bad in COD and not its solved

Am I the only one seeing this grey background between characters of selected or mouse-overed filenames?
Only at 144Hz, it's fine at 120Hz, and it only happens outside of an imaginary center column about a quarter of the panel in width.

I'm using an excellent Club3D DP 1.4 HBR3 cable rated for 32.4Gb that served me well thus far, G7 2560x1440@240 included before I returned that display.
So I doubt it's the cable....
does anyone can check if this is still a problem with F07 Firmware?Anyone that has installed the latest firmware?
Thats a problem in Windows when you have 144hz activated.
I tried different cables and even the latest DP2.0 cable does have this Problem in F06.
So far i dont habe F07 installed because everything is fine now but for F07 changelog there is something about 144 timings

EDIT :

I have installed the F07 and can confim that the problem with the letters are solved!!!!

Edit 2 :

Problem is still there for Displayport 4k 144hz + HDR.
Without HDR there is no problem.
Maybe its because of DSC?
Will try HDMI later.

Edit 3 :
On HDMI same for HDR 4k 144hz.

will pass that info to the gigabyte support.

Edit 4 :
Support will change the timings for 4k 144hz with HDR on

I just checked and I don't have that behavior. I'm on F07 as well. But I never had the issue to begin with.

Hello everyone, there are new drivers for HDR certification, does anyone know what exactly they are for? do they change the color tone? Has anyone tried them? greetings https://www.gigabyte.com/es/Monitor/AORUS-FV43U/support#support-dl-driver
yes, no changes, it only install a colour profile with the driver but only for non hdr.
Color Tone for HDR is a windows problem!
When you play games which automatic activate HDR when you start it, then HDR looks good (using HDR Game) but when you have to activate it first in Windows to work, then it looks terrible

It has a reset to factory in the menu. Other than the remote does the monitors menu itself not work? (Joystick on front) Is it stuck trying to find input and have you tried unplugging / replugging or changing ports on the display inputs?

KVM related. Once I turned on the main pc it worked. The KVM in this monitor sucks. If one pc turns off monitor due to inactivity, the monitor will not detect it and jump back to the active screen. Even if pressing mouse and keyboard when switching to inactive pc.

Yup i keep an extra corded mouse plugged in my main rig to help when switching between my laptop. Main mouse dongle is park of kvm setup and is plugged into monitor. If i dont switch briefly to that rig before i power off my laptop after work i have trouble getting input again. Sometimes powereing monitor on and off help but somtimes its a royal pain. If i switch briefly from laptop to main rig (wiggle cord mouse before attempting switch), back to laptop shut it off and quick switch again its usually fine....

Kind of a pain but i can live with it... i swear it didnt do this on earlier bios but i had no luck trying to roll back to earlier firmware

FWIW, Gigabyte in their infinite wisdom decided to release two different firmwares (one on 2022/09/07 and one on 2023/02/18) that are both called "F07". The older one of these still has the "VS Mode" picture mode, while the newer one renames it to "Arcade". The newer version also uses different timings for 4k144 mode w/ HDR, which have finally made that one usable on my Apple Silicon Macs again.

The updater for the newer F07 firmware will refuse to run if you're on the older F07 firmware, thinking the monitor is up to date. I ended up having to install the older OSD Sidekick version (2021/04/21), which still supported firmware upgrades, and downgrade to F06 using that; the updater for the newer F07 firmware would then finally let me proceed.

It's working for me so I'll just leave it alone until whatever next version comes out.

thats what i said to the esupport of Gigabyte 🤣 i have told them to change HDR timing on 4K HDR, they changed it and they said to me "we have updated the F07, just try it" i said exact the same that i cant update F07 to F07. Until today no further response

They won't respond, they rarely ever do.

I asked for HDR10+ support and tried to explain that HDR was short for HDR10 but the tech guy I was interacting with wasn't having any of it.

I just leave mine on HDR1000 mode all the time as that seems to be the best all around mode.

HDR1000 for me looks not good as it should i think. Not bright enough more like the is a grey picture over all? also Windows puts its "yellow tint" over HDR when the game has no real fullscreen mode.
The tech guy always want be to put my serial number of the monitor and a video of the "problem" 🤣

Are you using DP or HDMI?
I am wondering if HDR looks different on DP or HDMI?

Whether it's DP or HDMI, I reckon more than x2 DSC 2.1a may has some artificial effects on PQ.

IIRC, port compressions were being aggressively put to used right around the same time HDR comes into PC Gaming, circa 2015-2017.

Did you enable HDR in Windows? Did you try adjusting the SDR brightness in HDR setting if you did?
HDR in Windows - Yes (Because Last Of Us HDR Slider is otherwise greyed out)
SDR Brightness is set to 75%
Thats only happening with HDR1000, all other HDR Modes (Game/Film/H...) doesnt dimming the screen

This monitor doesn't like my new ASrock Eagle 7900xtx. Every so often it just refuses to display any picture at all (using DisplayPort). I've had to unplug power a few times and then it takes a while to get it back. What a pain. Running the latest Firmware too.

Does it seem to randomly drop the signal during use or does it only happen when you turn it on / wake it up from sleep? Mine seemed to randomly drop the signal during use, requiring a monitor power cycle to get it back. It was the Spotify website. See attached pic. It was fixed after disabling HDCP via registry and rebooting. This issue may not be limited to just Spotify and Nvidia as it could indicate the monitor doesn't follow the (expected version of the) standard. IIRC there are two different methods of HDCP handshake, I forgot the specifics. If it fails you aren't allowed to watch protected content, and... poof, off it goes. In theory this can happen with any software that supports playback of HDCP DRM protected content.

My 2nd suggestion would be to swap the cable. My 3rd would be to try to use CRU or the driver control panel to create a mode that does work properly, with slightly different numbers for timings etc. I would also stick with 120Hz for a while to see if it only happens at 144Hz. After all, a visual artifact that occurred at 144Hz was fixed in a firmware update and we don't know what kind of workaround was applied.
