[Rumor] Intel Arc A770 Early October Launch

The rumor of Intel's Arc demise seem to be greatly exaggerated.
Wait for the reviews first. :) lol
I don't know if they really manage 3060 or even somewhat close to 3070, the delays will sting.
I'd like to stay optimistic though. Who knows perhaps XeSS is super resolution+. Performance wise though Nvidia does have a lot of 3080/70 stock to work through... and AMD has already been lowering MSRP on the 6k gen.

Just don't be a buggy mess... and let Intels management let the GPU division take the bronze and live to fight the next race.

Hasn't this already happened?
We joke but given Nvidia’s pricing this round and the uncertainty with buying a used card right now I would almost say they are more relevant for the low and mid tier of the market. I mean we still have to hear from AMD on this but I expect them to be priced up with Nvidia on this round too.

we still have to hear from AMD

AMD is supposed to launch the Navi 33 around CES, so intel has a window till then.

Once that launches it will beat all variants of Alchemist for a price lesser than $500

You assume that they will put out anything in that price range, there is a reason that AMD and Nvidia have been more or less abandoning the mid and low end, the margins there are terrible. They also have to worry about directly competing against their previous generations of equipment from excess stock or from the used market. It is more profitable for them to focus on the Mid-hi, and High-end components and let the trickle-down refresh cycle take care of itself.
Additionally but somewhat of an adjacent topic, much of the mid-tier and lower ends of the gaming spectrum are more than covered by the current console generation, they are surprisingly capable and AMD is to be commended on that feat of engineering.

mildly intrigued. want 3rd party reviews. expect drivers to be garbage, but expectations around that have been set. Want/Need third player in consumer GPU business.

All I am hoping for out of this is another player in the market. Even if it's shit. More options likely means more price drops. It is up to us not to buy the shit by paying attention to the hardware. I have had my eye on another 6900XT since someone on here told me they had dropped like a rock in price. Sitting around 700 bucks now, if they go below 500 I'm buying another one for the hell of it. Been really happy with it's performance.

I expect the new AMD cards to be sort of affordable but more expensive than last gen.

$289 for the A750, $329/$349 for A770

For a reference there is a 6650xt at $320 on newegg that come with a $20 rebate card (so $300 if you have a use for the $20 which would be common), a card that seem outside 4K almost exact in between a 3060 and a 3060TI at 1080p and 1440p, 10% above a 5700xt

Do feel too late.

How is that for some marketing spin. lol

Having said that go. Intel give us some low end options that can offer actual decent 1440 gaming for our kids and wives machines. /jk

This is what Intel needs to do... get some cheap cards out that are decent. Give them an install base to get the drivers sorted and solid for the next gen, which hopefully can keep everyone playing nice in the mid range at least.

This about sums ARC up. Intel is acting like Nvidia is the only other option. AMD does have cards in this segment, AMDs drivers are solid, AMDs power usage in this segment is solid. 3060 who cares... how does arc stack up against AMD 6650/6600 even 6500. IF Intel is going to focus on per per dollar... they better be ready for comparisons to value bin 6700 and even 6800 cards.

Yup. AMD rules $/perf right now. Much more attractive than anything ARC.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is going to be bundled with these. Interesting as MW 2019 was included with Nvidia. Gotham Knights appears to be included as well. Not a bad bunch of freebies, Intel is at least trying to market this.

Bit disappoint personally as I hoping for MW2 to be a freebie with Nvidia if the 4070 was priced right (for me).

All the Alchemist GPUs that will be built were made almost a year ago. Intel has lost all big 3 AIB support. If you want one, get it quickly.
That sounds concerning. Does that mean all Intel cards will be produced in house then? Any idea what that might mean for Battlemage, Celestial, and beyond?

To be fair... pretty much ALL the GPUs are turned out by the same Chinese factories anyway. Asus MSI EVGA Nvidia AMD they all have contracts with foxconn.

As long as Intel can design a basic reference, foxconn can build it.

It seem that the idea of third party vendors in general for all the players are slowly being squeezed out.

Many AIBs are also pretty over extended on the 3000 series cards as well. Putting out a new series of cards with an even smaller margin to directly compete with their overstock isn’t exactly in their best interest.

I'm a bit surprised they haven't moved some of the production to another country yet, say India. Somethingsomething eggs and baskets. It's not the sort of thing one would want to arrange when everyone is panic-moving production during potential future conflicts.

They have started moving manufacturing to India but they mostly handle their own continents supply. The export shipping in China is really good, other places not so great China’s infrastructure is very well set up for mass export and it’s something other regions can’t yet compete in.

With tariffs and the threat of more in the future. I would bet they probably are well into the planning of moving some production to places like India and Vietnam.

Replied before reading Lakados post. He has a point ya China is basically custom built by the party to expedite mass overseas shipping. Every road, dock, empty massive factory with 100 bays ready to be staffed at a moments notice. Ya there may be red tape at the receiving end then years past... but getting stuff out of China is still pretty easy. Also you have to factor in load sharing in the shipping. China has so many ships leaving everyday that shuffling your product onto a boat basically leaving any day of the year is possible. Some of the newer smaller players have advantages but if your a company that just wants to ship a few containers of product... Chinese shipping is still going to me more reliable and generally much faster.

Any clue on which shops will carry them at launch? I am primarily looking for an Intel-branded A770 LE.
I'm assuming Intel won't sell these directly?

Never thought I'd see an Acer video card.

Lol, on that info commercial. The jest -> "It is so amazing that we even reduced the price further and have a bundle for you too, we are so confident in the value". Debating on getting one, LE, be kinda nice to tinker with, probably be very much sadden when the 5700 XT just blows it out of the water except for RT. Downside is I have virtually all AMD CPU rigs besides one obsolete 6700K system ready to be disassembled. Oh boy, maybe not, . . . well then again . . .

Nvidia definitely and sorta AMD (not as much) left this opening for Intel to slide in with their disaster of a launch (extremely late). Nvidia will be battling Amper for what looks like at least a year stripping the lower and mid tier cards which Intel will be able to compete in making it even harder for Nvidia to get rid of their over supply of Amper GPUs. That is if Intel actually does have a FPS/$ advantage and good enough drivers for enough games that people can take advantage of that if it suites them. Plus since Intel does not have to beholden to any AIBs at this stage, if they don't want to play and cut their own throats selling Amper cards - fine.

I still see a play for Intel at this price segment and future cards which could get them in the top 10 on something like Steam hardware stats. Claw to #1 like the 1060 and Intel would be looked at differently in my opinion. Let AMD and Nvidia duke it out at the ultra high end while Intel scrapes up the majority of users, mindshare at the lower end. Maybe that will work.

They might have been so far along with these cards that they had to release them, when they are gone, they could close up the GPU shop.

I might get this one,
  • A770 Limited Edition (16GB) starting at $349
At that price, I would take one for simple FA&FO reasons.

What else you going to do with 4M GPUs you already own, that are well over a year late, and are in a collapsing market? Fire sale!

Yep. I don't think AMD/Intel/Nvidia are going to like the next year or so at all.
