time to put that bad boy through its paces! I am curious of the power consumption at full tilt.

The design is kinda growing on me. It was ugly on first sight, but now I can't stop thinking about her...

That box looks like it could hold a 24 inch monitor. It also looks like its buckling just holding the video card inside. Good luck on getting that shipped to your house damage free.

I recently bought an RTX 3070 Ti, and I thought that card was big. The RTX 4090 makes it look comically small in comparison.

As for getting it shipped damage free, I'm sure companies are going to be extra anal about packaging it properly, because they don't want to deal with a $1700+ return.

I'd still recommend buying it locally though, if possible, to avoid problems.

In my experience big companies don't factor in cost of the item at all when it comes to shipping. I have had numerous very expensive packages show up at my door over the years damaged from being poorly packed and/or mishandled. I just got a brand new monitor last week from Newegg and the screen was cracked which was no fun to deal with having to return.

I try my best to get in store pick up at Best Buy since there is almost no chance of items that were sent to their store in bulk having any damage at all.

i just want to see how big the 4090 FE is to the 3090 FE tbh
Someone already compared the official measurements and they are almost exactly the same size with the 4090 actually being smaller in one dimension.

I love the way the FE cards look but I had two FE 3080 Ti and one FE 3090 and the coil whine was ridiculous on all of them. One of the FE 3080 Ti card also had loud rough fans while the other had quiet fans. The FE 3090 had the loudest fan I had ever heard and was insanely loud so I was just unlucky there as that was not the norm.

I also had an FE 3070 that was fantastic though with no audible coil whine and very quiet fans.

Thanks for the information about the comparison. such a boring release in terms of aesthetics then.

i'm concerned that these "2x to 4x" performance over the last generation claims are tied mostly to DLSS 3.x and not raw native performance increases

It is only about 50% faster than the 3090 ti in games without DLSS nonsense according to their own benchmarks.

I am going to wait for reviews and wait to see what AMD has to offer and see if anything changes. The 4090 is too power hungry so I am looking at the 4080 16GB but 1200 bucks is just crazy when the 4090 is only 400 bucks more for such a huge increase in specs. The 4080 12GB is a joke for 900 bucks.

LOL that card is comically huge, like WTF? And I can't imagine the power drain it has while extreme gaming. You probably need new circuit breaker in the room for the PC, like you do for a clothes Drying machine. Ha.

Even if I got a 4090 for free I would never use it or put inside my PC. And I'm a big gamer. But that thing is just ridiculous. Literally bigger than a brick. And super power hungry. And also to tell nVidia $1700 for a single video card price is dumb, and on principle should not be acceptable.

I always look at these stupid cards what are they like 3 or 4 years later? Meaning ok you give it your kid or put inside your second computer, ok, who the hell then wants an outdated blow-dryer in their PC that sucks power, runs hot, and isn't as fast as RTX-5070.

LOL look at this freaking thing. Is it a joke? I mean WTF that thing is ridiculously huge. And probably need a new electrical panel in your house to run it.

Even if I got this for free, I'd never put this in my PC. Has nVidia lost their minds?

Serious question, how will this giant heavy card stay in the PCI-e slot and not fall over or break the slot? Is there some bracket or metal arm it comes with to keep it standing up in the case without falling?

Yeah, there's arms that attach to the case slots that assist holding up the card, or stands that go under the card and act as a crutch. I've started using crutches on all my video cards after I went to swap a Titan X Pascal to another computer (wife's) and it wouldn't work because the PCIe teeth on the PCB were warped from being in my computer for 4 years and having gravity bend it. It would only work in the also warped PCIe slot on the previous motherboard, lol. And keep in mind, that Titan card was nowhere near as large or heavy as the clowncards coming out now.

that's nuts

I went from an MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming, which was pretty big, to an RTX 3070 Ti FE, which seems smaller (at least shorter and narrower) but this is just insane. Stupid marketing price rises aside, the amount of material in these cards and the extra packaging is already going to cost way more....

He is holding it out in front on him.. Changes the perspective. It's a foot or 2 closer to the camera than he is.

Not saying they are not large cards, 357mm or something close to that, 14 to 14.5 inches.

Tell me that heatsink can't handle 600W....

If you got the PSU that can power it, these are gonna overclock like crazy... And all of the performance numbers are certainly for stock clocks... how bad ass will these be when OC'd?

I think the 4090Fe is 304mm, or 12". The AIB's got the larger heatsinks this time around. Better? Hopefully the reviews go into all of that.

Maybe it's time to bring back SLI????
Wonder if AMD will have a double card surprised ability/option without the bad frame times? Since chiplets can be used for multiple GPU dies, maybe a fast interlink plus pcie 4/5 will make it viable for two cards (probably unlikely) in a unique way where the OS just sees one GPU overall.

The 4090 size for the air cooled may become rather entertaining when folks try to cram them in their HP and Dell computers.
