My Best Buy order for the 3080 FE got delayed. No new ETA.
Consider yourself lucky. Some people were supposed to pick up their cards from Best Buy today. But instead of a pick-up notification some customers received order cancellations instead.

Oh, dang. Hopefully that's not coming next for me.

People are just giving up now. Me included. I am going to wait for the TI because I have every intention of skipping the next gen. I don't game I render and that card will go in a dan a4 with me offshore.

Newegg definitely has the best selection of cards, but I've never been able to buy them off Newegg. I have been succesful at Best Buy.

I think the biggest reason at this point stock is what it is due to the fact that when we see any restock, what do we see? We see 1 brand with 1 model card or 2 brands with 1 model card from each brand or 3-4 brands but only 1 model available for each brand at best. We're see restocks that look like and are honestly...piecemeal. We have not even once throughout the entire cycle the RTX 3080 retail journey we've all been on a single day where each brand had each of their models available simultaneously. Granted, nVIDIA warned us in December we'd see exactly this. This piecemeal style of restock for 3-5 months into 2021 at the least but this is getting absurd. nVIDIA must really not be able to provide too many GPUs from Samsung's fabs or GDDR6X RAM from whoever they got it from for AIB's to build cards and it's beginning to look a lot like...Nintendo when they release a new console allegedly. You know the rumors? Nintendo releases a new console and artificially limits stock to build up demand? Only difference is what nVIDIA might be getting from Samsung's fab in terms of GPU's might really be as limited as they say it is. But of course that's just my opinion...I could be wrong. Out!

I wonder if Nvidia will announce the 3080 Ti later today at CES...along with the 3060 12 GB variant (why would they offer higher VRAM on the lower end card?)

I saw this posted elsewhere when someone asked why the 3080m has more VRAM than a 3080 and someone responded:
"can be explained due to the way memory bandwidth works, the 3080m can only do 8 or 16gb. They cant give a 80 card 8 so 16 it is."
Maybe similar reason applies to the 3060; VRAM can only go in certain increments and not simply by 2s?

Sounds like the 3080m has a smaller bus width for the memory. Probably 256 bit instead of 320 bit like the desktop 3080.

I don't see a 3080ti being anything less then $1200 now with the price hikes going on across the board. That is for founders too. I expect AIB to push $1500. I am ok with getting a 3080 now and didn't have to camp 6 hours.

I sold my remaining Newegg gift cards to a family member yesterday so I am no longer tethered to the CCP-owned store, lol.
Setup a bunch of Best Buy alerts. I don't really want the FE but considering they are $100+ cheaper than the other models at this point, I'll take it.

Newegg raised prices on their own, combined with the new tariff fee, combined with their bundle cost.
Aside from Ebay they are the most expensive store for 30 series cards.

Queueing up for a $1,000 3080 is a pass for me.

What clocks are you guys running for daily stuff. My TUF is clocked at +75 and +800 for daily use. Results in 2010-2055 MHz clocks at 62-64 C temps.

My bench clocks aren’t much different as even when I set to +190/+1300 the card still boosts between 2010-2130 MHz. However, Port Royale shows average as around 2010-2025 mark.

Do post which model you are using when you post your daily clocks.

Question on shopping BestBuy.

I've got a screen up filtering in-stock GPUs. Will that automatically refresh for when something comes up, or do I have to manually refresh?

It's been a week since the 3080 FE I ordered was supposed to arrive at my Best Buy and it's still showing as delayed and I can't get any concrete info from them on where it's at or if it's still coming. So, I'm going to try and order another one this Tuesday if they drop more to be on the safe side. Will Best Buy let you order more than one of the same type of card or does it have restrictions in place to prevent that?

Idk, I’d give it a shot tho.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get a more concrete date on your delayed card after the next drop.

I can see that. Has this happened to anyone else that you know of? From what I've gathered in a Reddit thread there are two others in the same boat as me. One is from my area and the other is in Florida. So it seems that our region got its shipment delayed for whatever reason. The dude in Florida managed to get a tracking number from his store for his order and it's being shipped with FedEx and stuck in Memphis, TN. It's been there since January 8th.

Just a hunch; haven’t heard of that happening to anyone else. Would be weird if they released a second batch of cards while keeping yours delayed.

I just wonder why mine was delayed in the first place. Can't tell if it hasn't shipped yet or if it's stuck in the same spot as the other guys card I mentioned.

Best Buy is getting another shipment of 3080 cards this Tuesday?

They generally get drops on tuesday. I'm not sure they know as much as they are guessing. That said stock drops do generally happen, they just might be bigger or smaller depending on actual availability.

what time does Best Buy usually do drops?

Zotac prices are shit now but it is not too difficult to grab one from them directly if you stay logged into paypal and their site and have a few express shortcuts open.

Zotac is the only place online that I have personally seen the "add to cart" button actually work during this hot mess. I mean, it did work, until I went to checkout.

$900 for a 3080 though. What are we even doing anymore.o_O

Probably because they are the most butt ugly of cards AND the design restricts air flow.
From the start I decided I ddint want one no matter what.
They need better engineers/designers.

I'm hearing reports of people picking up 3080 cards at my local Micro Center in Brooklyn (NY)...I don't want to do it but I'm thinking about getting there really early 1 or 2 days and seeing if I can snag one...

I found out what most likely happened to my 3080 FE order from Best Buy. The dude I've been talking to on Reddit who managed to get a tracking number for his order found out that the reason the package didn't progress any further was due to it arriving to Memphis, TN with no contents. So, yeah, our cards most likely got stolen. Talk about crappy luck.
