When will it be possible to buy a Zen 3 cpu without using a bot or paying Scalper rates?

Microcenter in Sharonville OH shows 5 5950x in stock this AM. 11 5800x still which was 12 yesterday evening so maybe we are hitting local saturation on the 5800x? They would all sell out by midday previously. 5600x must have just came in since none showing yesterday and 25+ this AM.

3 still in stock too. If I weren’t 2 hours away, I’d probably go grab one.

There was a big 5800x drop at Parkville MC this morning. There were 17 when they opened and currently 3 left. I almost brought one but decided to hold out for a 5900 or 5950. I waiting for a 3080ti atm but idk might just grab a normal 3080 if I come across one. They still haven't gotten any 5900x since release and only a handful of the 5950x.

Managed to get a 5600X ordered on Amazon. It said February delivery so I guess we'll see how long it actually takes.

I was lucky enough to buy one at the same time you did. I received a Feb. 20-24 delivery date initially, but they sent an updated delivery date this morning. My delivery is now scheduled for Dec. 26-27!

For those still trying, I just used the Hotstock app for instant notification and had already setup Buy-Now option on amazon. I didn't click the link on the hotstock website. I just had the Ryzen 5600X saved in my cart to "Buy it later" from previous attempts to buy it now. That quickly got me to the item page and just clicked the Buy Now option within ~10 sec. of the Hotstock notification.

So, it is possible for us normal humans to beat the bots!
Now if only I could get a new video card...

i've seen it in stock 4 times.
Each time, i make more than a dozen attempts with buy it now button, quickly dismissing warrantee popup.
I have never successfully ordered it.
I'm very frustrated. i have never gotten into my cart either.
I've tried adding it to the cart instead of using buy it now, no luck there either.

5600X and 5800X aren't super difficult to get. I'm pretty hardcore with the app, discord, and script notifications and I could have bought dozens of them. 5600X stayed in stock for a full 3 minutes yesterday.

5900X and 5950X are nigh impossible.

Oh three minutes is an eternity. 5900X came into stock today, I hit the 1-click Buy Now button Amazon within 10 seconds and it was out of stock. Both app and website too. Like I said I'm hardcore on this and if I'm not getting it, it can't be got.

Unless you just get lucky and happen to be browsing when it comes into stock or you have a bot that actually checks out like the scalpers use, you're pretty much SOL.

I wonder how accurate this etas from Amazon are

Newegg's new return policy aims to cut down on dodgy reseller returns

https://www.pcgamer.com/neweggs-new-return-policy-aims-to-cut-down-on-dodgy-reseller-returns/

If they really start enforcing that you may see some combos sitting around more often but I don't know what folks are going to do with some of those combos. And if it continues as it is there's no way you can make a real decision because they're instantly gone for the RTX 3000 and AMD 5000 CPUs and I guess AMD's 6000 GPUs. I guess the only real answer is just to pretend the launch didn't happen and wait for the actual emails from Newegg or B&H that let you know there is standing stock.

They can spin it whatever makes them sleep better but there's only so many $300+ motherboards one needs. Sometimes Newegg combos with super random parts without any combo discount either so the PR sounds good but in reality, they're clearing stock and throwing up whatever have the most qty in their inventory, I see you Oloy stick!

At least they had been letting you return stuff so I'd sort of disagree but yeah you're still sticking someone with return shipping on a full size computer case is kind of lame but it was something. If any of the manufacturers or vendors cared they'd set up some kind of system where you could create and maintain a long-standing account and just pre-order or backorder stuff, plain and simple. I still like the idea of charging three times the price for an item during the first few months of limited availability and you having to run an app and return some kind of serial number or show a picture with it installed in your PC with the serial number showing and then you can get your money back. I'm sure some of the humans involved would find a way to make that a total nightmare though.

Finally managed to get an order in on a 5950x at Amazon. Question is whether it'll arrive before freakin' May.

Preferred a 5900x but with scalping prices what they are I was willing to pay MSRP for the 5950x even though the extra 4 cores won't mean much.

Hey, who knows? Maybe my 5900x will ship from B&H first. And maybe 1997-era Jennifer Love Hewitt will show up at my door wearing nothing but a sarong.

I tried so hard during this past drop on amazon, and couldn't manage to check out :(

Sorry man. It's insanely frustrating. I got that notification and JUMPED to grab my phone, hit the buy now button, and nearly shit my pants when I saw the slider rather than the usual "your cart is empty". I couldn't believe it.

It was much harder to get a 5900X or 5950X than a RTX3080.

And still, says it may not ship until mid-May.

WAIT WHAT? MAY? The 5950X you just purchased?

That's a pretty useless order. I wonder how long pc-canada will take. They always accepted orders but it's not in stock. I've put my other last week.

I miss living 1 hour from 2 Micro Centers...now it's a 5 hour drive one way and stock has been super limited. WTB Micro Center buddy to snatch a 5900X for me

I'm waiting for a 5600x from them, no news on that front. I'm monitoring all the canadian websies as well as kijiji just in case but it's been a complete blackout for the past week and a half on everything, heck, I can't remember the last time I saw a 5600x in store somewhere, I could have grabbed a 5800x from Canada Computers but thought I could get a 5600x instead soon, what a mistake, now I have all the parts needed to build my computer waiting at home and they're doing jack shit , so frustrating, first build in over 7 years and I can't even finish it.

I understand you ! We had the same problem at work when they released Zen2, we purchased a 25k$ EPYC server and had to wait 3 months so all of our planning was on hold because of that. It's such a shame that they have so much difficulty making those CPU, AMD would make a lot more money if they were not production limited.

Maybe I should get a 3700x, same price on sale as a 5600x and it's in stock, wonder how big of a difference it would be

Ah, just saw the notice and realized the 5800x has been available for hours. I guess nobody really wants it, hah.

I can't wait for the scalpers to get stuck with tons of inventory. Supply will catch up to demand at some point soon.

I don't wanna be stuck with my 5800X but at this point it's going to be months before I get a 5900X it feels

I’m going to make daily trips to microcenter for a week to see if I can get lucky on a 5950. If not, I may settle for anything I can buy

Without an investment of time (to spam pages with plugins like distill or watching discord channels) or money (either through paying for a premium stock app or just buying from scalpers) there's no reason this won't just continue forever. These may become available to buy for the common person after Zen 4 is available to the scalpers instead. There's no incentive for retailers to actually curtail this activity until they are hit with huge returns and stock rotting on shelves, and they are months away from that.

With holiday returns, they will get stuck with nothing. They'll just keep cycling returns and rebuys.
Supply will likely catch up after January 31st. I have learned to be patient and will wait out the frenzy.

"there's no reason this won't just continue forever. These may become available to buy for the common person after Zen 4 is available to the scalpers instead. "
I think you are being a bit pessimistic. I think come January/February there will be too much inventory for scalpers to buy.

Yes, my Amazon order says it will ship between December 17th and May 17th. Shrug emoji here.

5600X and 5800X are extremely easy to buy. 5900X/5950X are insanely difficult. Much harder than the RTX3080, and that was no picnic.

We can disagree then, that's fine. If AMD/Nvidia/etc had some kind of magic button they could press to increase production, they would have pushed it from the start. I see no evidence that supply will increase or that demand will decrease, so it will simply continue as we are now. A few month's won't affect that, all it means is that a few lucky ones will actually get their product in between all the scalpers. Sounds to me you're just blindly optimistic.

Been trying to buy a 5600x for weeks, and I would 'settle' for a 5900x. I've spent several mornings at Microcenter (only one day did they get in 5800xs,) running distill.io on my server constantly and have been on discord. What's the easy option to buy a 5600x?
