Who is buying a 3090?

This guy already has one and look how huge this goofy looking video card is:

And its even more amusing when you consider the pcb is barely even half the length of the card, it's like it's been entombed in heatpipes and metal.

According to NVidia there's basically fuck all stock of these anyway so barely anyone that's not a "reviewer" will get one. Probably be another sold out message seconds after going live, all in a mass panic launch to beat AMD to market.

The increase in physical size of the 3090 over the 3080 exceeds the increase in performance.

You Know, I never thought I would say im happy with my temporary 5600xt.

Its working good enough for 1080p 144hz on my 240hz

Im going at 9am tomorrow again tonsee if there is a shot at a 3090 but im 99.9999999% sure people are camping out tonight so fuck it. Ill at least say I tried.

I was going to try for one. I have an HP Reverb G2 on the way (eventually) and figure that can definitely drive it but I'm not expecting miracles. I'm upgrading from a 1080ti FE so. /shrug. I probably won't be able to get one and will get to see how Big Navi ends up comparing.

I've got a bot setup to grab a 3090 and check it out tonight. If it gets one, I'll decide if I want to keep it or just sell it at a slight profit and wait on the 20 GB 3080 and RDNA 2. 🤷‍♂️ Going to go watch some TV, eat dinner and get a good nights sleep. Hopefully when I wake up in the morning I see some e-mails in my inbox saying I got a 3090 on the way hahaha. If not then all good.

ProShop in Denmark has just announced they have 25 AIB 3090's in stock for launch today, but no date on when they will get resupply.

Jesus Christ. Again with this?

We don't know this. I've seen leaked benchmarks showing upwards of 20% improvement going to the 3090. What we don't have is context for some of these numbers. 10%, 20% or whatever in 3DMark 10 doesn't mean anything. Also, any benchmarks done at 1920x1080 are largely meaningless as that's a CPU limited resolution in most cases. Doom Eternal benchmarks? Please. Even at 4K the numbers are all over the place with different CPU's. The game runs so well at 4K, that you can't take those numbers and make a general statement about a card's performance based on the data.

Having said that, I will likely be getting one. If there is a 20GB 3080 and the difference between it and a 3090 is only 10% or less, then that's probably the only circumstance where I'd opt for a 3080 20GB instead. I'm also looking to go back to 4K, so I'll be particularly interested in performance between the two at that resolution. I'm uncertain that a 3080 with 10GB of VRAM is sufficient with ray tracing in some games.
Nvidia literally posted on their site/blog that it's 10%-15%... I'm not sure why it's so hard to believe. If they felt to use a range from 10%-15%, you can pretty well assume 10% is normal, 15% is best case or there abouts. I'm sure it will somewhat depend on game as well, but 10% is probably correct.

"For 4K gaming, the GeForce RTX 3090 is about 10-15% faster on average than the GeForce RTX 3080"
https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/news/rtx-3090-out-september-24/

"Since we built GeForce RTX 3090 for a unique group of users, like the TITAN RTX before it, we want to apologise upfront that this will be in limited supply on launch day."

And this is why prices will keep going up.
We apologise in advance for the limited supply, but we'll release it anyways knowing we don't actually have enough supply just so we can say we beat the competition to launch!!! And since we already apologized you can't blame us for not knowing. If you already know you don't have enough for a launch, why the rushed launches?!

Happened to be up for work, took a look and nVidia's site did this:

You don't have permission to access "http://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3090/" on this server.

Checked every nVidia page.
what a joke, I almost feel bad for people, but all the writing was on the wall a month ago so not really.

Oos, maybe find a way to avoid bots? nice troll nvidia.

Maybe they don't sell them at all, post them on ebay themselves, sell them for more.. profit? :troll:

Kinda glad I have to wait for team Red. Wish they crushed nvidia for once.

Never saw Nvidia store even go for sale. I did add one on Newegg it was removed from cart from lack of stock. Bestbuy removed all cards for whatever reason. EVGA is Elite only.

Bots can be blamed, but the real culprit is a company in panic stations mode going to launch a product knowing full well they have barely any stock of it.

LOL
I just tried to get one into my cart on all major websites. As soon as I clicked add to card it was sold out.
Nvidia went to out of stock right away. What a shit show again LOL
There are no cards at all or do you wanna tell me that thousands of people want to buy a $1500 GPU during a pandemic? THose are all bought and sold on ebay.

LOL EVGA site still crashed. Nothing ever popped up on any site. I should have finished the bot I was writing. I was debating myself over being an asshat and doing that or just not wasting the effort more than hitting F5 a few times. I had my browsers and alerts for those sites set to auto check. Like the 3080 launch, nothing ever popped up for me to even add to the cart basically.

poor bot :(

Nvidia's site keeps showing up as check availability for me. At their product page it cycles from Out of Stock, to Check Availability, to Notify Me with every refresh. Roll the dice. Best Buy still shows coming soon on my desktop but the site keeps crashing in the phone app.
