Corsair SF600 600w SFX Powersupply

I read these have semi-passive operation. Is there an option to keep the fan spinning continuously? That would be beneficial in cases that don’t have other fans blowing air out, such as Lian Li PC-Q21.

No "spin"-button on the back has been observed. Likewise, no port for Corsair Link, so no ability to tell it to spin via software. So I think it's not possible.

Seeing a actual credible review would be nice if they ever get it out. Sounds like its going to be some time.:(

I'm getting together sleeving, wires, connectors, etc and goign to attempt to make custom length cables once the SF600 is avail.

With all these great deals lately my build is coming together much faster than I'd thought. It'd be a shame if the hold up was the PSU.

This seems to be just the right time for when the A4-SFX is coming out. Looking forward to some reviews.

Has there been any word on what the modular cables will be like? I'm hoping they go non-braided/all black wiring like Silverstone's PP05-E.

About time Corsair jumped in on this.

I'm more interested in the 450W though.

Have a source on that? JohnnyGuru at Corsair seems to say othewise here.

I spoke with Corsair customer service personally. Twice, on separate occasions just because I didn't want to believe them and every source I could find on the web stated end of Feb. Both times the rep stated April/May as an ETA. I really hope JohnnyGuru knows something we don't but until there's solid proof from Corsair, I wouldn't hold off a pc build in hopes of an SFX PSU being released by Corsair any time soon especially seeing as this particular unit had been hinted of being released months ago. The rep I spoke with at Corsair says their tech team would be the first to receive the SF600 so they could understand the unit before it is released to the public and they don't expect that to happen until some time in March or April. Hence, an ETA of April/May.

Jon Gerow (a.k.a. Jonnyguru) is the PSU product manager at corsair, he's the guy you should listen to.
Not the first time customer service is wrong, maybe they thought the "Bulldog" delay (which is delayed to about what you're saying) also applied to the SF600

If Bulldog is delayed, then the SF600 is delayed... That's how it has been so far. Unless they came to their senses and figured out that releasing the SF600 is good, Bulldog or not.

Well if the SF600 is shipping after Chinese new year and the bulldog is delayed... there aren't a whole lot of options are there?

I know what JG said. I just "believe it when I see it" this time.

The important conclusion is that the apr/may date some people referred to is BS, and if nothing changes, it's a few weeks away.
Might not be the absolute truth, but it's the best guess anyone has..

I still haven't seen anything official stating delays for either product, so I made a post over at Corsair asking for some clarification. Here is the relevant thread. Unfortunately, without a timetable from Corsair hub to retail, we can't really make any assumptions based on JGuru's reply as to full product retail availability. My mobo and CPU are arriving this week, I can wait 2-3 weeks for the Corsair to be avail, but beyond that, I'm looking at one of the Silverstone offerings.

Well, they haven't said anything about dates for their new stuff either...

And as a previous owner of their currently available products (600 and 500 L), i advice you strongly to wait for the new stuff... ;)

Small update! I asked this on the Corsair Forums
"What is the typical lead time between being shipped to a Corsair hub and retail availability?"

Response from Jonny Guru:
"Depends on the hub and method of shipping. Worst case is three weeks on the water."

If we figure three weeks from the time Jonny posted (Feb 6th) his first message that the 450s were already shipped to hubs, we should see them within about three weeks, with the 600s shortly afterwards. Obviously, things can happen, but I think I'll wait and see rather than go with the Silverstone.

Just as an aside: It might be 3 weeks from the 15th so the week of March 7th or so?

Yeah, I could see Mar 7th being the outside earliest. Not holding my breath! Luckily I had a bad part for my new build so its been delayed, making the PSU wait a bit more tolerable.

I just went and checked the corsair thread and other than jonny saying "Soon... So very soon..." one thing that surprised me is that the thread had nearly 10k views now.

Welp; not sure whether I'll go with this or Silverstone now. Guess it's the race to a small form factor 800w now.

For me, it's a race to a high quality, no strange noise SFX/SFX-L

The sound doesn't bother me too much since I'm the type of guy to rip the default fan setup out and replace it. I remember the voltage of the Silverstone SFX fan being compatible with a Noiseblocker 60mm if I remember correctly. Might have been an 80mm, I'd have to check the serial off the Johnny Guru review and cross-reference it with the serial list again.

Silverstone supposedly has a 700W SFX-L Platinum unit in the works. Should be great for those SFF dual-GPU systems.

Just checked the thread on Corsair forum. It's still "soon", and at least "a few weeks" just for it to reach the retailers. So I guess it won't get released on March. Very disappointing for a product that was supposed to be launched *last year*.

I don't see it widely available until end of March at the earliest, maybe into April... No trace whatever still... PSU SFX need competition... I've lost the faith to await... I truly wish that it'll not a let down with noise and subpar performance... after 1 year of await.... nearly

If, and that is a big if, the 600w hits store March 11th then that would be sweet. First batch of stock will go fast I predict. Always seems to be the case. Assuming the reviews are positive of course.

I just need the 450 watt setup. Moving my current system from a huge ATX to a simple ITX system. Just need this PSU. Everything else is ready to go :)

Great. The 600w is up on Amazon too. Guess it will be available this month finally.

Seven years warranty... Wow, they sure have confidence in their product.

Thanks got my 450 ordered. 600 seems overkill for an itx unless you plan to go with the dual GPU in a single card setup..
