  • 1989: 8086/XT (Family PC)
  • 1995: Pentium 90 @ 100 Mhz (Great overclock don't you think? :))
  • 1998: Pentium 233 MMX
  • 1999: Pentium-II 400 Mhz
  • 2001: Athlon Thunderbird 1.2 Ghz (Still in service as Win98 gaming machine)
  • 2004: Pentium-4C 2.8 Ghz (It and/or the motherboard suddenly shut down and never woke up again)
  • 2007: Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 Ghz
Feeling that upgrade itch again, but the E6750 is fast enough for now, so I'll wait...

Computers I actually paid for on my own:

Celeron 300
AMD K6 400
K6 450
K6 500 (I know, wtf)
Athlon 700
Athlon 1000
Athlon 64 1800+
Athlon 64 2200+
Athlon 64 2800+
Athlon 64 3200+
C2D E6750
Phenom 955

And now I don't spend large amounts of cash on incremental upgrades. I wasted a lot of money in my first ten years of computer building.

286 8mhz 1988?
386 dx-33 1992?
P2 333 1997?
Athlon ? 1999?
Duron ? ????
P4 1.6A ????
E6300 2005
E5200 2009
i3 530 @ 4.2ghz right now

Damn can't remember all the dates or the processors to be exact. I know I had bunch of other CPU's in between but those are the CPU's I personally owned and used. My first computer had a floppy disk and no hard drive. It had 16 color CGA high tech monitor. LOL

Let's seeeee...

That *I* paid for, something like this:

P2 300
Athlon 1400
Athlon 3500+
I5 750 (now)

Tandy 286
Intel 386 DX100?*
Intel PII 233
Intel Celeron 300a@450
Intel Celeron 366@515
Dual Celeron 366@515
Intel Celeron 600@900?*
AMD Duron 800@1100?*
AMD Tbird 1000@ ???*
Intel PIII@1000
Intel P4 2400
AMD XP1500
AMD XP1700@???*
AMD 2600@???*
AMD 3200+ laptop
AMD 3500+
AMD 4000+
AMD X2 4200
AMD Opteron 145@3010
AMD Opteron 165@2600
Intel Atom 330
AMD PhenomII@2300
Intel E2160@2400
Intel Q6600@3400

* = I can't remember exactly.
I actually still have some of these oldie but goodies.

I can't remember all of mine but here are the highlights

Intel 386
?
AMD 333mhz something or other
AMD 3200+ Barton - first OC
AMD FX-55 - big disappointment
Intel [email protected] (current)

Needless to say, I don't upgrade very often, I usually skip a generation and overclock to make up for it.
Next up will be a Sandy bridge quad

Pretty sure I've posted in here before, but I have new additions.

- 286DX
- 486DX (33MHz)
- 486DX4 (66MHz)
- Intel Pentium 3 500MHz
- Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz
- AMD Athlon 3200+
- AMD Opteron 170
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
- Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (Laptop)
- AMD Phenom II 940 BE
- AMD Phenom II 955 BE

E6600 which was capable of reaching 3.4Ghz or so... and then a year later the Q6600 since affordable quad became all the rage. Haven't felt a need to upgrade since.

Here's my CPU progression list for my main desktop setups in the past:

Intel Pentium 60 MHz (1994-1998) | Packard Bell Legend 100CD
Intel Pentium II 400 MHz (1998-2001) | Dell Dimension XPS R400
Intel Celeron (Tualatin) 1.2 GHz (2001-2002) | Dell Dimension XPS R400
Intel Celeron (Tualatin) 1.4 GHz (2002-2004) | Dell Dimension XPS R400
AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+ @ 2.675 GHz (2004-2006) | DFI NFII Ultra Infinity | DFI LANParty NFII Ultra B
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2006-2007) | ASRock 775Dual-VSTA | ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.0 GHz (2007-2008) | ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
Intel Xeon 3350 @ 3.2 GHz (2008-2009) | ASUS P5K Deluxe | ASUS Maximus II Formula
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.6 GHz (2009-Present) | ASUS Maximus II Formula

The upgrade from the PII 400 MHz to a Celeron 1.2 GHz (using a Powerleap Slot adapter) in the same machine was the most noticeable jump in performance out of all the CPU upgrades I've done in the past. It was around then when I really got into computers.

Motorola 6809 (my CoCo II from HS, still works & can read a 29 yr old 5.25 floppy)
Pentium 75 Mhz (overclocked to 90)

Now I can add an i7-930 currently OC'ed to 4Ghz to my list :D

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ S939 (First custom build CPU, beat the pants off my old P4)

486 DX4 100mhz
Dual Pentium 350's
Pentium III 800Mhz
P4 2.8 Ghz
C2D E6600 (OC'd to 3.2Ghz)

1995 - Intel Pentium 166 @ stock
2001 - Intel Pentium 4 1.4GHz @ stock
2004 - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ @ stock
2007 - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz @ 3.0GHz
2010 - Intel Core i7-875K 2.93GHz @ 3.733 (so far)

As you can tell, I wasn't really interested in PC gaming for a few years between my Pentium and Pentium 4. The Pentium 4 was probably one of the worst decisions I ever made (and I immediately had buyer's remorse after looking at reviews); however, I've been happy with my purchases ever since.

These are the procs I've had in what would be considered my "primary" pc at the time. For the earlier ones, this would include the "Family PC" before my brother and I got our own PC's.

Many Years -- 486 33mhz,
Many Years -- 486 DX4 100mhz
3 years -- AMD K6-2 350mhz -- The first PC I had to myself.
2 years -- AMD Athlon Thunderbird 900mhz -- The first PC I built myself
3 years -- AMD Athlon XP 3000+ -- My College Workhorse.
3 Months -- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (this was swapped out with a friend of mine who wanted me to build a PC with a dual core...as payment for building it he ordered a C2Q and traded with me).
3 years+ -- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 -- Still going strong. This was my college machine for my last year...would have stuck with the XP 3000+ but my Senior Project required a stronger PC.

Additionally, my mediacenter line is here

Athlon XP 2600+ -- Repurposed PC for HTPC tomfoolery
Athlon XP 3000+ -- Repurposed my first college PC into an actual HTPC box after the above passed away from 3 years of extreme usage (running nearly 24/7 with non-computer folk)
Athlon X2 3600 -- The 3000+ mobo burst into flames when a partygoer spilled beer on and into it.
Athlon Phenom Quad Core -- Don't rememeber which type, picked it up on Black Friday on the cheap as an impulse buy. I don't use this machine anymore and my Dad's using the machine as his primary PC.
Intel Atom N230 (Aspire Revo) + Intel Atom D510 (Custom NAS)
