Fan vibrates for a time then smoothes out

I have a 120mm fan in the back of my case, not sure if it's a sleeve or baring fan(Cheep one for sure though), that vibrates when I power on my computer and for about 20 seconds after(Computer is usually about to or already booting by the time it stops).

I was wondering how I could fix it, if it will shorten the life of the fan, and if I should replace it.
If I do end up replacing it I was thinking of getting an Enermax Enlobal fan, since it seems like it would last a while and be pretty quiet. Any thoughts on this fan or reasons I should get some other? Only $7.49 here so another fan around that price if you do have a suggestion. ^.^

Thanks for your time and if you need any pictures just ask. I haven't a camera up in my room but if you need pictures I can borrow someone's camera.

Edit: OS is booting, the computer is usually done with it's own boot sequence. Just thought I'd clarify. ^^;

cheap fans = cheap ball bearings = vibration

Just replace it, and that enermax fan is pretty good.

Stay away from the enermax Enlobal. Very few of them are good fans, most rattle like a banshee.

Get a yate loon.

As for the noise in question, is it plugged into the motherboard, or a 12v molex? Some motherboards start the fans out at about 12v then ramp them down as required for ambient temperature.

About how much does a yate loon cost?

I believe it's plugged into a 3-pin connector on the motherboard; no speed control. I think there's one other 3-pin connector free and one 4-pin taken by the processor fan.

g2g eat supper, I'll check back in a while. ^.^

My p5b-deluxe controls the speed (by varying voltage) of the back fan just fine :)

Yate loons are anywhere from 3.50 to 6$ a piece, depending on the speed and style you need.

If your current fan's CFM rating is less than 40, get this: http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-120mm-Case-Fan-D12SL-12-pr-3009.html

If it's higher than 40 get this: http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-120mm-Case-Fan-D12SM-12-Medium-Speed-pr-3770.html

The 2nd fan is a bit noisy, (I mean, it IS pushing 70CFM!) so grab a cheap fan controller if you can.

I recommend the first of the 2, honestly, regardless of your current fan's rating.

I think I've read in my motherboard's manual that the only controlled fan is the one connected to the 4-pin(Currently the CPU).

[edit2]
Nice that the price is comparable... Seems it's not sold on newegg though. What's a reliable shop I can buy it at?
Oops... Failed to remember the links in your previous post. x.x[/edit2]

I would check to see if it said on the fan what the rating is, but I'd have to turn off my computer to do that so I'll wait until later for that.

I don't need a fan that really pushes a lot of air though. On boot it shows the CPU temp at about 35C. Right now, while I'm listening to streaming music, have 6 tabs open in Firefox, and have a few monitors in the panels of my desktop, the temp of the two cores on the monitor are showing to be 18C and 20C.

The CPU temp according to the command line tool sensors shows the CPU temp fluctuating between 29C and 40C(Probably something to do with the BIOS, but I have the latest version afaik).

Anyway, I feel it's safe to say I have a fairly cool system, even with only the rear fan, CPU fan, and 120mm power supply fan. If the system isn't cool, my room sure is... Often feels like 60F in here with my ceiling fan on high and the AC running, even though I'm in the loft. >.<

Sorry about the long post... I'll check the fan to see what I can find out about it; besides the fact that it's noisy at boot. ^.^

Edit: Newegg reviews seem fair for the Enermax... Although there are some bad ones.

Humph... Turned off the computer, looked at the fan, wrote down some stuff that was on it(Turns out I didn't need to turn off the computer though. >.<), removed a little dust that was attached(Wasn't much to begin with) with my hands, didn't wipe the whole thing, and spun it a little bit in both directions. When I turned the computer on it didn't vibrate. x.x

Although the side panel was still off and the huge air duct was moved aside.*Shrug*

The duct probably does make a difference though. It's a big piece of useless plastic that is supposed to help the CPU fan get air from outside of the case(I guess) but doesn't help much, as it's only half over the fan, and blocks airflow to the rear exhaust fan(You can hear the difference).

Here's what I got from the fan:

Dynaeon Industrial Co., LTD
Top Motor

DF129225SM
According to their chart, this is a:

12V 92mm(Square)x25.4mm(Deep) Sleeve Bearing Medium speed fan. Apparently I mis-estimated the size of the fan, but it looks pretty big to me...

Anyway, that rules out the Enermax fan if it is 92mm... I don't think they make that fan at that size. They don't seem to have this fan on their site for some reason.

I'll try starting the system again with the side panel and everything closed again to see if that's what causing the turbulence.

Thanks for the replies and I'll be back in a bit. Gotta rest my mind after all this torture. lol

edit: Found some specifications with google search.

Apparently 2600 RPM, 46.43 CFM, and 32.87 dBA.

sensors gives me this:
fan1: 3125 RPM
fan2: 2678 RPM
so fan2 must be the rear one.
