I never understood how they made it out of the first major plating issue fiasco with so many fanboys intact.
I don't remember all of the specifics but it was pretty bad and the owner was clearly a big PoS. (Something along the lines of, the community having to pay 3rd party labs to prove the...
I've been using Roku devices for ages and prefer TVs with Roku OS now when possible. That said we don't use any of the free chanels \ content. We primarily use Netflix, Hulu, Plex, Paramount plus, and Peacock.
We have a Samsung smart TV that is admittedly older, but the OS is total garbage with...
The real question is what do you need the extra storage for? If you don't need it, then the most cost effective solution is to not use them for anything. Sell them or throw them out.
You could put then in external enclosers, home server, NAS etc. In my case 1-2TB drives sit in a scrap pile and...
So your looking to force Windows to forget a previously entered password for a network share?
If so, you can clear save network share passwords via Credential Manager > Windows Credentials. Network shares should be at the top of the list. From there you can edit the entry or just remove it so...
This isn't a WD problem, it's shady sellers selling drives not meant for the retail channel.
Typically, if you avoid 3rd party sellers you should be fine. That said, Amazon has a problem with commingling inventory, so buying directly from Newegg is probably a safer choice. (Again, avoiding the...
Sounds unlikely given all the recent sales on the 5800x3d. Seems like they are trying to clear out old inventory. I'm not sure why they would be doing that and developing new "old" inventory at the same time.
Same. To make things worst some times I buy a new game after several hours and only have like 10 minutes to play it before bed lol.
Lately I have been defaulting to youtube and old Indy games if I can't decide in the first few minutes. Something like FTL or Guild of Dungeoneering on one screen...
Windows 7 backup has not worked properly for many years. I didn't even know it was still included in Windows 11.
I believe File History's default retention policy is to backup any changed files every hour and to retain them forever. You can verify or adjust this in advanced settings...
As the others said SMART can't be trusted and Amazon is the worst place to buy anything you care about being legit. They don't separate inventory per seller so even if you buy from someone who had sent legit drives for distribution they could still be shipping you scam garbage a different vendor...
Meh, I'm glad that they got one card at an almost reasonable price I guess?
I would be more excited if we were talking about the 4080 only being $100 more than the 3080 :woot:. At $799 I would have upgraded but $1199 is a tough pill to swallow.
Pricing in general is probably hardest for us...
At this point I think OP is a PoS if they return it when they knew about these issues in advance. But I'm aliso the type of person that lets hardware rot in my closet rather than dealing with buyers :ROFLMAO: .
I would just make a post in the FS/T section looking for a 3090FE heatsink. I'm...
Do you know the model of your current drive? Could it possible be msata or pci-e rather than and NVME drive?
If this is the case there is probably a way to convert it from CSM to UEFI if you are really determined, but frankly you might just be better off backing up any data you need and doing a...
This is a bit odd, most systems will only boot to NVME drives when using UEFI. Does your system boot fine to the original drive when you have it set to CSM only?
UEFI is also a bit odd because most systems won't show the boot drive for you to boot from like legacy \ CSM did. You would actually...
Nope. I disabled them during the darktide early access crash fest and haven't bothered to turn them back on. I haven't run memtest since upgrading to 32gb at game launch but everything else is running fine and there are fairly widespread reports of crashing so I'm not going to bother just yet...
At this point I just wish the game would stop crashing on me and the saves \ auto saves worked better. Performance is fine once I gave up on RT.
The game will run fine for an hour or two for me and then crash, proceeded by multiple crashes within minutes of logging back in, and then run fine...
I think someone posted earlier in the thread that is was running fine off a spinner for them.
I would try it before your spend money on upgrades. You can always refund the game through Steam if it has issues.
No, at this point it appears to be more about VRAM, as some users have been saying from the start. 10GB just doesn't cut it for ray tracing in this game.
I didn't want to believe it but the benchmarks are pretty clear.
Upgraded to 32GB of RAM last night and the game ran great for an hour or so. Then my game crashed and performance tanked, I couldn't get performance back to normal even after reboots or reverting to old drivers. Very strange.
I ended up turning off ray tracing and everything is working much...
I didn't say they were, and I hope you're right because they clearly suck. :ROFLMAO:
That said they are the newest drivers and they do have a game ready profile as LightsOut said so I figured they were worth a shot. I was wrong.
I'm still going to add the ram tonight and check things out...
Installed the new NVidia drivers last night and the games been crashing constantly ever since.
I forgot my new RAM at the office yesterday but I'm hoping to install it tonight and see if 32gb really helps.
Lowering DLSS to performance instead of quality helped smooth things out at 4k but I...
Not running as well on my 3080 @ 4k as I would like. I was really hoping to avoid the 4000 series but between this and Darktide, it might be time to upgrade if I want RTX enabled without lowering settings.
I'm considering upgrading to 32GB of RAM from what everyone is saying but I haven't seen...
People are stupid, this article shouldn't even need to exist.
Things were better when every idiot on the planet didn't have a platform to voice their stupidity... Get off my lawn. :ROFLMAO:
You have to factor in price to performance too. Intel didn't start giving us a meaningful core count boost in low \ midrange CPUs until Ryzen forced them to. Look at the simple fact that overclocking is pretty much dead. Manufactures aren't sitting on performance like they used to. They are...
One of my all time favorites was the 8800gt. I picked mine up for $199 and it out performed the $400 8800gts and was fairly close to the $599 8800GTX. That was a pretty cool time to be a budget gamer.
Alyx was by far the best VR experience I have had. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any other VR titles that come close.
(That said my headset has lived in a box for the last year so I could be out of touch with the current market.)
They essentially map a floorplan of your house and obstacles at this point. All of which is reported back to hq..... I have no idea what their privacy policy is, I wouldn't be shocked if they are selling that data to someone. Even if they aren't selling it, it's probably not stored securely...
