Yes, my advice is, I'd ask to see more solid evidence of correct 1080P scaling than a bunch of forum people saying "trust me" or "the result is all that matters" before plunking down a few grand for a 4K TV. But hey it's your money.

While pixel doubling in both directions would seem to be the logical way to scale 1080P to 4K, this doesn't mean that TV manufacturers will do this or even support it as an option. They often apply some kind of processing to try to make TV content "look" better in 4K, whether that be smoothing...

Also VESA mounting is a concern here... the ACER uses a standard 100x100 hole pattern whereas the Samsung uses this weird hole pattern that requires an adapter that's sold separately (and not even available). I use a LCD arm so VESA mounting is a must...

It is not overclockable, above 60hz it frame skips, above 67hz and blank screen or signal not supported message on the LCD. However, if you use the nvlddmkm patcher, you can overclock the DVI port beyond 30hz, I was able to get it up to 52hz without artifacting using a fairly long DVI cable...

I really like those Rackable Systems SE3016s that you can find for cheap on ebay. Half depth so it doesn't take much room, and it's plug and play with Areca. Just replace the internal fans and the PSU fan with quieter ones and it's suitable for home use.

By the way, the dual link up feature is quite nice for some niche applications. You can also set scaling to aspect or full for each screen side. I don't think the AOC monitor supports dual link up.

I never noticed any tearing problems, only flickering/corruption when DP 1.2 is enabled. Once every 20 hours sounds kind of hard to catch in practice, though. If I disable DP 1.2, corruption goes away. I'm using the DP port on an Nvidia card, so it's not only an ATI problem. However...
