FS: Complete PCs: Dell Inspiron 530S, Q6600/HD6870 rig (Pickup 92870)

For sale are some spare computers: Dell Inspiron 530S - $20 This is in rough cosmetic condition and it needs a new heatsink on the CPU (the existing heatsink just kind of floats on top of the CPU and the screw posts merely guide the heatsink into position). Otherwise it is in working condition...

    FS/FT: Audeze LCD-2 Headphone

Looking for either straight cash ($650) or trade with a comparable headphone (plus or minus cash depending on the trade) that is more comfortable to wear. I really like the sound on these but the weight is a bit much sometimes. This is the original Rev 1 run with the foam headband, but it...

    Playing at 1080p on a 4k monitor?

Right... I'll have to defer to someone who actually has a 4K panel that has bad scaling on it to take pictures of it.

    Playing at 1080p on a 4k monitor?

The above linked post to the Nvidia forums already posted an example from FTL on how GPU scaling butchers pixel graphics by applying interpolation without any option to turn it off. What it's supposed to look like (pixel doubling): http://abload.de/img/4k-nearestb1r06.png What the scaling...

    PS4 on 4k vs 1080p tv

Yes, my advice is, I'd ask to see more solid evidence of correct 1080P scaling than a bunch of forum people saying "trust me" or "the result is all that matters" before plunking down a few grand for a 4K TV. But hey it's your money.

    PS4 on 4k vs 1080p tv

While pixel doubling in both directions would seem to be the logical way to scale 1080P to 4K, this doesn't mean that TV manufacturers will do this or even support it as an option. They often apply some kind of processing to try to make TV content "look" better in 4K, whether that be smoothing...

    Acer K242HQK 4k

Also VESA mounting is a concern here... the ACER uses a standard 100x100 hole pattern whereas the Samsung uses this weird hole pattern that requires an adapter that's sold separately (and not even available). I use a LCD arm so VESA mounting is a must...

    Acer K242HQK 4k

Aside from the grainy AG it looks good; probably AG removal would work but I don't want to risk ruining the monitor already. Since I'm using it as a secondary monitor I decided to just live with the AG coating, at least until someone can confirm that the AG coating can be removed without...

WTB - High HDD Capacity Chassis

Instead of the Norco I'd recommend just picking up a SE3016 from ebay for half the price. 16 bays, built-in SAS expander, half the depth of the Norco case.

    Acer K242HQK 4k

It is not overclockable, above 60hz it frame skips, above 67hz and blank screen or signal not supported message on the LCD. However, if you use the nvlddmkm patcher, you can overclock the DVI port beyond 30hz, I was able to get it up to 52hz without artifacting using a fairly long DVI cable...

    Acer K242HQK 4k

I received it; it works fine in 4K at 60 hz using displayport; Dual Link DVI works at 4K but only at 30hz. But I think the larger concern is the AG coating that they use, it's been a long time since I've used a monitor with a super thick AG coating and it's quite unpleasant, making solid...

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

I really like those Rackable Systems SE3016s that you can find for cheap on ebay. Half depth so it doesn't take much room, and it's plug and play with Areca. Just replace the internal fans and the PSU fan with quieter ones and it's suitable for home use.

    Teclast X90HD - 2560x1600 8.9" Atom tablet

Haven't seen any posts about this, but this is an interesting tablet that has a nice high resolution compared to the usual 720P / 1080P stuff in this price range (under $200). It uses a high resolution 2560x1600 IPS display by JDI (Japan Display Inc). Looks to be only on the China market right...

    34" 21:9 UltraWide Displays (3440x1440) - LG UM95/UM65 & Dell U3415W

By the way, the dual link up feature is quite nice for some niche applications. You can also set scaling to aspect or full for each screen side. I don't think the AOC monitor supports dual link up.

    34" 21:9 UltraWide Displays (3440x1440) - LG UM95/UM65 & Dell U3415W

I never noticed any tearing problems, only flickering/corruption when DP 1.2 is enabled. Once every 20 hours sounds kind of hard to catch in practice, though. If I disable DP 1.2, corruption goes away. I'm using the DP port on an Nvidia card, so it's not only an ATI problem. However...
