So I recently got a new card 7800XT & I was going though previous orders & to my surprise, they retained my records since account creation. Other sites have purged it.
Still can't get over the fact I was able to buy X1950 Pro for less than 100 GBP (149 inflation adjusted). In 2007 land, 7800XT...
So I've been out of the PSU arena for a while. Has there been any improvements?
Have PSUs finally moved to totally solid state design? As in no more liquid capacitors
I recommend uninstalling the old version completely. Go to add/remove programs, look for Gameinput Service and uninstal it.
Recommend following this. There's a TY guide as well.

UPDATE: So the cause may not have been the GPU, but rather by Microsoft Game Input Service Conflict. See attachment. I JUST uninstalled the older version. Unfortunately the 2070 Super is no longer in my PC so can't confirm this. But at least the errors in event viewer have stopped. Keep an eye...
Replaced the card and in my sleep deprived state, I booted it without connecting the PCI cables
Could I have damaged the card? I know modern cards are fool proof, but still....
Identical. Around 75-78C. Dried thermal paste did cross my mind, but that would heat up the GPU & throttle its performance
OCCT tests were an hour each. So were valley & heaven. But ran Superposition for several hours
Also, the older game I was referring to came out 10 years. Hardly tax the...
So I've been using the 2070 Super (MSI Ventus) for nearly 4 years & it worked fine till few months ago.
While playing older & newer titles, system freezes at random & the GPU fans ramps up. Upon checking Event Viewer, I always see Nvidia or video related causes.
After running through the usual...
I can't pin point the cause & inc extreme stutter. Happens on FF forks as well. I didn't change anything before the upgrade.
Yeah I did and opted for minimal. But wondering if I'm missing out or are there any performance/stability difference between all three.
PC nerd by nature, but I haven't used an AMD GPU in over 10 years. Haven't had an all AMD PC for nearly 20 years. Things have drastically changed and I have questions.
Since upgrading to 7800XT, first thing I noticed was when I go to YouTube via Firefox, it doesn't display the page correctly...
Hi
Got my 7800 XT Nitro today & noticed something off about the fins. They seem rough, one fin was slightly crooked (corrected it manually).
Is this normal? Card is brand new sealed. No damage to the box.
Merry Christmas. It has been two years since my last post and I've finally found the solution as to why my system wasn't shutting down or restarting correctly. To anyone experiencing the same issue, hopefully this will save some headache, time, stress and money.
In Dec 2018, I upgraded my...
Day 20 since last update. Everything seems stable and working as intended. Haven't changed anything since my last post. So the issues must have been CSM or bad Windows. Least I know its not the hardware.
Thanks for all the help. Appreciate it.
So it has been three days and thought I post an update. It may help someone out.
I've painstakingly ruled out all internal hardware, internal and external connectors and external hardware. I have even ruled out the BIOS as I've tried 4 different versions with the same issue. All that was left...
For a second there, I thought the problem was the Crucial SSD.
Was happy that I saw no black screen after all that restarts so I decided to reinstall windows and do clean set up. Just as I was finishing everything, i restarted the system and it went straight to BIOS.
Under boot, I didn't see...
That's the BIOS I have and I'm on replacement motherboard. So far I have ruled out RAM, PSU, Motherboard, Soundcard, 2 HDDs, ODD, Case Connectors and External devices (like speaker, monitor etc).
ATM, I have taken out the new Crucial SSD and stuck my old Samsung SDD back in. It's just GPU left...
Did th
Did that too. This is such a weird issue. Event viewer shows Windows is shutting down properly. Prime95 runs fine for hours. I did Mem86 test when I got the original RAM only 10 ish months ago.
Anyway, I've installed the new Trident RAM from the QVL list. Did 21 restarts and all...
I know. But I don't see much of a choice here.
I've done more testing and I can now repeat the black screen issue consistently. If I shutdown or restart the system while the CPU usage is moderately high or high, the system won't reboot. It properly closes Windows and goes to black screen. I...
TBH, one of the reasons why I ordered the new set cos the previous set is US import. At least with this, I'll have Amazon's support for a year then GSkull's after. I'll also break even. So no loss there.
But yeah, if the problem persists with the new RAM, I'll forgo DCOP and put the timings in...
I did set the mem to default, but the [Ripjaws V] F4-3200C14D-16GVK isn't on the Strix X470-F QVL list. So I ordered the G.SKILL F4-3200C16D-16GTZR Trident Z, which is on the list. Hopefully that'll solve the problem
Mine is connected to a moderately expensive stepped (approx) sinwave APC UPS. It does work with my Seasonic Focus 850 along with my monitor, PS4, X1 etc. Heck, it saved my PC from several power outages, dips, brown outs etc. It was unlikely the cause but just wanted to eliminate the possibility.
So I've sorted out the boot loop issue caused by the reset switch (as mentioned on the previous thread), but in the process, I've upgraded the CPU from Ryzen 1800X to 2700X and the motherboard from ASUS Strix X370-F to X470-F. But I kept the RAM (G.SKILL F4-3200C14D-16GVK) and GPU (XFX 1060 SC)...
Short version: If you experience random restart, power loss, kernel power errors, system stuck in boot loop etc, check the case connectors (including power and reset) first. I was experiencing all of the above and even ended up replaced the PSU, CPU, motherboard and SSD with no avail. The cause...
Hi. Had to send in my MSI 1060 Gaming X due to hardware fault and since the card is not in stock, was offered refund. After some research, I've narrowed down the choice to these two.
The EVGA is retailing for £255 and the Sapphire is retailing for £290. I had the 1060 before so I know what to...
BIOS didn't alter the voltage. It appears to have something to do with infinity fabric tech AMD employs on Ryzen. Apparently infinity fabric clock is linked to memory clock. So if you own 1600X and above, might run into temp issues with higher speed RAM.
Thanks for all the replies and advice. I could have waited, but seeing the 1800X for £284 was too tempting to resist.
I ended up going with ASUS STRIX X370-F and G.SKILL Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 Model F4-3200C14D-16GVK. Updated the BIOS to version 3803 and selected the right DOCP memory...
I've decided to stay away from Corsair because they mix and match RAM versions. And there's no way to ensure I'd get two Samsung sticks.
So ended up ordering G.SKILL Ripjaws V 3200 CL14 from the States via Newegg

That's what I'm thinking as well since Strix ticks all the boxes. Could you tell me the specific Corsair RAM you're using and are you able to get 3200 easily?
Currently in the process of upgrading my ancient system with Ryzen 1800X. But every AM4 motherboard I've researched so far has some sort of issue, which is starting to get to me tbh.
I'm not looking to overclock now. Maybe few years down the line. Right now I'm after a board with great...
Due to odd pricing in the UK, I've ended up getting the Seasonic Focus Plus 850 Gold. Was only £25more than 550 watts and £20 more than 650 watts version.
I've tested it twice with APC 900 Pro Stepped Sine Wave UPS and it does indeed work. There was no buzzing either to my surprise. Not sure...
From what I've researched so far, it's a mixed bag. For an example, Seasonic S12-II 520 and M12-II 620 won't work with stepped UPS, but the S12-II 430 will (despite all three being S12-II range). This is why I need confirmation. I need model numbers that'll work with stepped UPS.
So far both...
Although I live in London, power quality in my area is not great. Get dips and sometimes short power cunts. Do use my PC for important work hence the UPS.
Time has come to upgrade my aging rig and to retire my faithful Corsair HX520, which worked perfectly with my APC 900 Pro UPS. Unfortunately, it's a stepped UPS that approximates sinewave. I've read stories that modern PSUs do not play well with stepped UPS. In some cases, PSU shutting down when...
